Circunomics

Recycling & Circular Economy

Circunomics is building the World's largest virtual battery recycling and second life network. Today, we manage 1.5 GWh of spent batteries and 5,000 tons of recycling capacity. We are tackling one of the largest and most profitable problems of the Circular Economy: "How to enable efficient data, material trading and recycling processes in the Circular Battery Economy?" By 2030, 11 million tonnes lithium-ion batteries will have to be recycled. The lack of standards in processes, certification, track & trace technology results in high process and transaction costs, the loss of valuable raw materials, and prevents the development of recycling and second life scenarios worth over USD 8 billion annually. Circunomics aims to (1) reduce friction, build trust between market participants and increase market transparency to achieve a positive cost-benefit ratio for the private sector; (2) achieve significant waste reduction of precious battery resources, creating a profitable battery aftermarket, and to reduce the dependency of foreign lithium and cobalt supply; and (3) enable significant product, service model and process innovations for the Circular Economy.

Job description

Your mission

Your Mission

As a Sales Specialist – Battery Trading, you will be the front‑line driver of our supply and demand side. Your core purpose is to secure high‑quality, second‑life‑ready batteries from scrap‑yards, vehicle workshops, fleet operators, dismantling facilities and other non‑traditional sources, feeding them into our digital marketplace and enabling a true circular flow of battery assets. On the other side of the market you engage with vehicle repair workshops to onboard them to our marketplace as potential buyers for such feedstock.

You will work hand‑in‑hand with the Senior BDM Supply and the inbound sales team under the guidance of the CRO, the Product Team and Marketing to turn raw scrap‑yard inventory into a predictable, data‑rich supply pipeline that fuels the circular economy we champion.

Your profile

Core Responsibilities

- Identify, engage, and onboard scrapyards, auto-repair workshops, fleet operators, dismantlers, and other hidden battery sources across Germany/EU to Circunomics’ marketplace, ensuring all battery trading partners conduct their transactions digitally via our platform.
- Negotiate acquisition contracts (spot purchases, long‑term supply agreements, take‑back schemes).
- Perform on‑site assessments (state of health, safety, documentation) together with technical partners.
- Create and maintain a live supplier intelligence database (capacity, lead‑times, pricing trends, regulatory constraints).
- Collaborate with the Business‑Development team to align sourcing targets with demand from OEMs, tier‑1s, second‑life integrators, and energy‑storage companies.
- Prepare sales & sourcing reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and investors.
- Represent Circunomics at industry events, trade fairs, and local networking groups (e.g., recycling associations, automotive clubs).
- Feed market insights back to Product & Tech teams (e.g., common failure modes, battery chemistries, regulatory hurdles).
- Support the CRO in building strategic campaigns with Marketing (targeted outreach, webinars, case studies).

Must‑Have

- Hands-on experience and a strong professional network within the scrapyard, auto-repair, automotive after-market or battery sourcing sector are essential.
- A strong interest and/or experience in the battery industry, combined with proven experience engaging with scrapyards, auto-repair workshops, or the automotive after-market sector, is essential.
- Proven track record of closing contracts with scrap‑yard operators, workshops, fleet managers, or dismantlers.
- Strong negotiation, contract‑management, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Hands‑on, “get‑things‑done” attitude; comfortable with field visits and on‑site evaluations.
- Excellent communication & presentation abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating across product, tech, and marketing teams.

Bonus Skills

- Experience in GreenTech, platform business or Energy‑Tech startups.
- Technical background in battery chemistry / diagnostics.
- Fluent German and English (both written & spoken).
- Existing network of contacts in the European battery‑scrap ecosystem.
- Knowledge of EU waste‑electrical‑and‑electronic‑equipment (WEEE) regulations.
- Experience with CRM & data‑visualisation tools (e.g., Salesforce, Power BI).
- Passion for electric mobility & sustainable energy solutions.

Why us?

- Flexible working hours & hybrid remote model– we trust you to deliver results, wherever you are.
- Modern office in Mainz (optional) – open spaces, coffee bar, meeting pods.
- Low‑hierarchy, open‑feedback culture– your voice shapes strategy.
- English as the company language– work in an international, multicultural team.
- Competitive salary plus performance-based bonus tied to sourcing volume, quality, and revenue generation
- Professional development budget– conferences, certifications, language courses.
- Direct impact on the circular battery ecosystem– you will literally help close the loop on used EV batteries.

About Us

Founded in 2019, Circunomics helps companies buy, sell, and route used batteries in a structured and reliable way. We operate a curated B2B marketplace where battery assets from electric vehicles and energy storage systems are assessed, documented, and matched with the right next step, either reuse in second life applications or recycling.

Our platform brings together standardized asset information, battery data analysis, and regulatory guidance so that buyers and sellers know what is being traded, what is required, and what comes next. This reduces uncertainty, shortens decision cycles, and prevents battery transactions from getting stuck late in the process.

By making battery reuse and recycling easier to execute at scale, Circunomics supports the energy transition and helps turn used batteries into valuable resources rather than waste.
