Job description

Title:

Senior Manager, Risk Management

We are KBR

When you become part of our KBR team, your opportunities are endless. Through internal collaboration, and with our partners and customers, we’re defining tomorrow’s challenges, then providing the innovative solutions to overcome those challenges, always maintaining our commitment to Zero Harm and our Sustainability Platform.

In September 2025, we announced that we are spinning our Mission Technology Solutions business into a separate public company. This role would ultimately be part of that new company. Our Mission Technology Solutions business partners with governments and defense, intelligence, space, aviation, and critical infrastructure customers to deliver high-end engineering, science, technology, and mission support solutions. From national security and readiness to advanced research, cyber, logistics, and life-cycle sustainment, our teams help customers solve complex challenges in some of the world’s most demanding environments. Whether supporting operations on the ground, at sea, in the air, or in space, our clients trust us to deliver mission-critical capabilities every day.

Working with us means being rewarded for your contributions. In addition to competitive benefits and professional development, our people are empowered to use all their potential, creating meaningful change for themselves and our clients. We attract the best minds in the world because our expertise thrives on creativity, resourcefulness and collaboration. That is how we supply our clients with cutting-edge solutions.

As the needs of the world change, we’re ready to respond and guide the way forward with strategic, sustainable, and technological advancements grounded in more than a century of practical application and execution.

We are Finance

We are strategic partners to the business, providing financial leadership and insight that drives disciplined growth and long-term value creation. We operate across global markets, navigating complex regulatory environments and partnering cross-functionally to deliver practical, data-driven solutions. Our agility, commercial acumen, and commitment to operational excellence enable us to support the business at every stage of its evolution.

About the Role

As the Sr. Manager, Risk Management, you will leverage technical expertise to lead critical components of KBR’s global insurance and risk management programs, helping to reduce financial volatility and protect enterprise value. This role is responsible for advancing and operationalizing the company’s risk management framework, driving best practices, efficiency, and automation across business units. You will oversee insurance procurement, claims management, captive insurance operations, and insured claims handling while partnering with internal stakeholders and external parties—including senior leadership, business divisions, brokers, underwriters, clients, regulatory agencies, and legal counsel. Highly visible and impactful, this role also focuses on leading and developing cross-functional teams, managing multi-region initiatives, and supporting the Treasurer on strategic priorities, including M&A activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Insurance Program Leadership: Direct corporate insurance program renewals, modifications, and strategy, presenting recommendations and insights to senior management.
  • External Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurers, brokers, and claims representatives to optimize program structure and outcomes.
  • Captive Insurance Management: Oversee the captive insurance company, including program administration, regulatory compliance, claims activity, and leadership reporting.
  • Claims Oversight: Manage insured claims processes, coordinating with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and internal legal teams on litigated matters, including Defense Base Act (DBA) claims.
  • Contract Risk Review: Evaluate and advise on risk-related contractual provisions, including insurance, indemnification, and risk of loss terms.
  • Specialty Insurance Placement: Manage the placement of project-specific and country-specific insurance programs to support global operations.
  • Regulatory & Audit Support: Ensure timely and accurate responses to audit requests, including those from government agencies.
  • Policy & Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement of risk management policies and procedures, aligning with industry best practices and operational excellence.
  • Program Enhancement: Recommend solutions, programs, or services to strengthen and evolve the company’s risk management framework.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed on insurance market conditions and claims trends to proactively adjust risk management strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and develop both direct and cross-functional team members, fostering engagement and alignment with corporate financial objectives.
  • Planning & Prioritization: Oversee departmental planning, including budgeting for insurance programs and personnel, while effectively prioritizing initiatives and resources.
  • Strategic Support: Support the Treasurer and broader leadership team on strategic initiatives, including risk-related aspects of M&A activities.

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Insurance/Risk Management, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in risk management and/or insurance within a multinational organization.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (MBA, JD, ARM, CRIS, CPCU, CRM) preferred.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government contracting environments preferred.

Risk Management & Leadership Expertise:

  • Deep subject matter expertise in corporate insurance programs, claims management, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and build effective partnerships.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
