Job description

Overview:

The ITS Field Support will perform tasks in accordance with the installation, road repair, installation or construction work, pertaining to manual and physical labor service and maintenance tasks under the direction of the Installation & Construction Manager.  This position will be based in New Jersey.

Responsibilities:
  • Assisting the Field Supervisor(s) or ITS Field Technician(s) with the completion of road construction and field service & maintenance tasks
  • Operating hand tools and appropriate power tools or equipment for the installation and integration of new or replacement IRD equipment
  • Ability to work in an outdoor, construction type environment
  • Support the integration of IRD roadside electronics, specialized testing, and initial calibration checks
  • Provide information and documentation required for detailed record keeping of installation service work in IRD’s format for on-site and electronic records, and/or using a web-based service ticket reporting tool
  • Work with IRD Field Services Team to resolve and troubleshoot any technical, design or functional issues from testing phase through to completion and acceptance onsite
  • Will be required to work in all weather conditions, travel to/from various remote locations, and may be required to work at heights

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a construction, manual labor or field service related work
  • Background in road construction is considered an asset

Technical Abilities

  • Working knowledge of software and hardware applications in a Linux/Unix, DOS & Microsoft Windows based environment
  • Possess a high degree of manual dexterity, and experience using hand tools and power tools used in construction related projects
  • Possess an understanding of IRD’s systems and products
  • Experience using various power and small hand tools

Relationship Management

  • Ability to work well independently and with a team
  • Possess cooperative problem-solving and logical decision-making abilities
  • Possess excellent customer relations 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a demanding environment

Safety & Licensing

  • A valid Drivers’ License and clean driving record is required as a condition of employment
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport for travel into Canada
  • Previous safety training will also be considered an asset
  • Required to pass a DOT Medical exam and hold a valid DOT Medical card
