About Colonist

We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 3,037 years playing 60 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love.

About The Role

As a Product Associate, you will accelerate growth by driving player activation and retention through data-driven insights and a deep understanding of user behavior. • Identify and document UX issues through structured investigation and competitor benchmarking

  • Create mockups and low-fidelity designs to communicate experiments and UX improvements

  • Define success metrics, design and sequence experiments, and estimate impact

  • Oversee experiments end-to-end: prepare specs, coordinate design and development, QA builds, launch, analyze results, and produce actionable reports

  • Analyze funnel and experiment data to generate actionable insights

  • Coordinate cross-functionally to execute experiments and maintain quality

  • Conduct user testing and playtests to validate solutions and gather insights

  • Break down complex projects into clear, testable steps for async execution

  • Report results, trade-offs, and recommendations in structured written formats

Requirements

  • AI first-mindset. We see AI fluency as a real multiplier

  • Exceptional attention to detail and high standards for clarity and execution

  • Strong written communication for async collaboration; able to write clear specs, experiment docs, and impact reports

  • Skilled at turning research into structured, actionable outputs (matrices, experiment plans, reports)

  • Experience designing and running experiments, defining success metrics, and conducting post-mortems

  • Able to identify UX issues and collaborate with designers to iterate and validate solutions through testing

  • Proficient in data analysis, interpretation, and presenting findings

  • Strong product intuition, familiar with mobile UX constraints and product lifecycle

Nice to Have

  • SQL proficiency

  • Ability to read code for deeper collaboration with devs

  • Forum/community moderation or support experience
