Job description

This is a remote position.

Operating as an extension of senior management in an established energy company, this remote part-time opportunity requires a highly capable professional to take ownership of critical commercial, contractual, and market growth strategies. Working approximately 3–4 hours per day initially, with flexibility to adjust hours in the future by mutual agreement, the position balances strategic autonomy with independent decision-making.

The role is focused on driving operational and commercial excellence by managing contract lifecycles and mitigating commercial risks within business agreements. Simultaneously, it champions business development and customer engagement initiatives to identify new opportunities and implement scalable growth strategies.

This remote position offers a strategic, high-impact environment where sound judgement and practical problem-solving directly influence organisational trajectory. It is an explicitly commercial and strategic role rather than an administrative one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Management: Review, negotiate, implement, and manage commercial contracts and business agreements to mitigate risks and safeguard organisational interests.

  • Market Development: Identify and develop new market opportunities to expand the business footprint and drive strategic growth.

  • Customer Engagement: Cultivate and manage critical client relationships to strengthen commercial awareness and market positioning.

  • Strategy Execution: Formulate and execute robust business growth strategies in alignment with corporate objectives.

  • Strategic Autonomy: Serve as an independent extension of senior management, accepting responsibility for high-level commercial and contractual decisions.



Requirements

  • Professional Experience: Proven track record working within medium-sized or large organisations with direct exposure to commercial contracts and business agreements.

  • Commercial Acumen: Strong experience in sales, market development, and executing successful business growth strategies.

  • Education: A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Chemistry, Accounting, Law, or a relevant commercial or technical discipline.

  • Core Capabilities: Deep understanding of commercial risk, contractual obligations, and exceptional negotiation and communication skills.

  • Attributes: Highly independent, analytical, and comfortable making decisions and accepting significant responsibility.

Salary: R700 - R900 per hour depending on experience
