Founded in 2007, Initiate Government Solutions (IGS) is a Woman-Owned Small Business and a fully remote IT services provider supporting federal partners nationwide. We deliver innovative Enterprise IT and Health Services solutions with a strong focus on data analytics, health informatics, cloud migration, AI, and the modernization of federal information systems.

IGS is currently recruiting a remote Solutions Architect to support our work. Please note the role is contingent upon award. 


Assignment of Work and Travel:

This is a remote access assignment. The Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access IGS systems and therein use approved IGS provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.


The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing technical solutions that align with business objectives and enterprise architecture standards. The Solution Architect works closely with stakeholders, development teams, and program leadership to translate business requirements into actionable technical designs, validate solution approaches, and support successful implementation and sustainment.


Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):

  • Design detailed, end-to-end technical solutions aligned to project goals, enterprise architecture, and technology standards. 
  • Develop solution roadmaps, technical architectures, and design documentation. 
  • Perform solution design validation, debugging, and performance analysis. 
  • Lead and support proof-of-concept (POC) development to validate proposed solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership to development and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Review and validate solution designs from team members to ensure quality and consistency. 
  • Collaborate with development teams to guide solution implementation, integration, and deployment. 
  • Document and promote best practices and reusable solution patterns.
  • Support BPA/task order kick-offs, including preparation of agendas and meeting documentation. 
  • Ensure deliverables meet contractual, quality assurance, and reporting requirements.
  • Support cloud-based architectures across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms. 
  • Assist in DevOps and CI/CD pipeline implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure solutions meet federal security, privacy, and compliance requirements (including HHS policies and Section 508).
  • Support system transition, deployment, and operational readiness activities. 
  •  Assist in operations and maintenance (O&M) planning and sustainment.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems design, or software engineering roles. 
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise or cloud-based solutions. 
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile/DevOps preferred). 
  • Experience with federal IT frameworks such as EPLC and CPIC. 
  • Ability to lead technical teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). 
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, and federal cybersecurity requirements. 
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and modernization initiatives.
  • Prior experience supporting  federal agencies, specifically health IT 
  • Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment
  • Ability to work and complete tasks independently and take a proactive approach

Compensation: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary, including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
