The Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies that enhance organizational visibility and engagement. This role involves creating compelling content, managing projects of moderate complexity, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Management

  • Develop, edit, and manage marketing materials, including brochures, presentations, newsletters, press releases, and case studies, ensuring alignment with brand standards and organizational messaging.
  • Create and optimize content for digital platforms, including websites, social media, and email campaigns, to drive engagement and awareness.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to produce technical and thought leadership content tailored to target audiences.
  • Campaign Development and Execution
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute marketing campaigns to promote services, capabilities, and events, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor campaign performance metrics, analyze results, and provide actionable insights to improve effectiveness.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure timely delivery of campaign assets.


Market Research and Strategy Support

  • Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, competitors, and target audiences to inform marketing strategies and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Analyze data and present findings to support decision-making and strategy development.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing plans and strategies that align with organizational goals.


Event Planning and Coordination

  • Lead the planning and execution of events, including trade shows, webinars, and community outreach initiatives, ensuring all logistical details are managed effectively.
  • Develop promotional materials and coordinate pre-event and post-event communication strategies.
  • Collect and analyze event feedback to identify areas for improvement and measure success.


Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Interface with internal teams, including technical staff and leadership, to gather information and ensure alignment of marketing efforts with organizational priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including partners, vendors, and media contacts, to support marketing initiatives.


Administrative and Project Management

  • Maintain marketing databases, including contact lists, project trackers, and content libraries, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring deadlines are met and stakeholders are informed of progress.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members as needed.

As a Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will be an ambassador for this critical program. You will be responsible for building relationships with the innovative small businesses, non-traditional contractors, and academic institutions needed to solve the government's toughest challenges. Your work will be critical to expanding our network of partners.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with digital marketing tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) or content management systems (CMS).
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, scheduling tools, and analytics software.
  • Familiarity with government contracting or defense industry marketing practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and interface with external stakeholders.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
