Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Specialising in taxation, financial reporting, bookkeeping, cloud accounting, and business advisory services, the firm delivers practical financial guidance through a transparent fixed-fee model. Their focus is on helping clients improve financial performance, maintain compliance, and make informed business decisions.

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join a growing Australian accounting and advisory firm supporting a diverse portfolio of clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a combination of accounting, reporting, bookkeeping, and client-focused finance work.

You will work closely with senior accountants and business advisors, taking ownership of day-to-day accounting responsibilities while contributing to financial reporting and analysis. The firm operates in a remote-first environment and offers flexibility, autonomy, and long-term career opportunities.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage client bill payments and accounts administration.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time.
  • Perform Xero reconciliations across multiple client accounts.
  • Assist with month-end reporting and management accounting.
  • Assist with financial modelling in Excel, management reports, and spreadsheet-based analysis.
  • Support bookkeeping, BAS preparation, and general accounting functions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet client deadlines and deliverables.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • CPA qualified or currently working towards CPA qualification (preferred but not essential).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting Australian accounting clients.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Xero.
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end reporting processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial reporting and spreadsheet modelling.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client priorities.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience working within an outsourced accounting or bookkeeping firm.
  • Exposure to management accounting and financial analysis.
  • Experience preparing BAS and supporting Australian compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with receipt reading software, such as Dext
  • Familiarity with workflow management tools, such as Asana.

  • Reliable month-end reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • High-quality financial analysis and reporting.
  • Strong client service and effective communication with stakeholders.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
