Job description

Provisioning & Equipment Engineer.
Contract Length: TBD
Work Setup: Fully Remote

The Provisioning & Equipment Engineer requires involvement throughout the life cycle of a service order, including design and material procurement. The Engineer will utilize TIRKS, Telecommunication Capacity Creation Process system, Canvas, FIM, and other internal systems to document all technical solutions and ensure timely deployment of service.

Provisioning & Equipment Engineer Responsibilities

  • Provision all service orders, including but not limited to TDM, T1/T3, Ethernet, and Dark Fiber services.
  • Complete circuit design utilizing TIRKS.
  • Complete equipment design utilizing the Intelligent Edge Network and GPON network.
  • Create legacy transport systems utilizing TIRKS.
  • Determine routing of high-capacity circuits over fiber and GPON networks.
  • Manage equipment configurations and card/port assignments.
  • Manage multiple Capacity Creation Requests for new hardware deployments, reconfigurations, and decommission.
  • Manage design requirements for circuit additions, upgrades, outside moves, repairs, and rearrangements.
  • Ensure work meets all applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards.
  • Coordinate and drive engineering issues to resolution.
  • Maintain communication with field engineering, cross-functional team members, and direct management to ensure early identification of issues and timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with Construction, ISP Planning teams, VPS, and OCO.

Provisioning & Equipment Engineer Required Skills/Experience

  • TIRKS.
  • OSP Engineering background.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
  • Knowledge of circuit design, SONET, TDM, T1s, and ISDN.
  • Strong working knowledge of SONET equipment: Fujitsu, Ciena, Cisco, Tellabs, Alcatel Client, and Adtran.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and organize work tasks.
  • Ability to re-prioritize as needed in a fast-paced working environment, especially when dealing with time-sensitive issues and mandated deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact successfully with customers, management, and team members to deliver customer satisfaction.

Provisioning & Equipment Engineer Desired Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
  • CAD Drawing: IDDS/ICGS telecommunication engineering system.

  • 5–7 years
