Job Summary

Summary
The MSDA program is recruiting Teaching Assistants to support online, asynchronous graduate-level coursework in healthcare data analytics. TAs help learners master statistics, Python/R/SQL, data visualization, and introductory machine learning by connecting concepts to healthcare across clinical, research, and operations contexts.

Essential Functions
-Deliver high-quality instruction in alignment with their area of expertise and program needs.
-Develop and manage online course content using Desire to Learn (D2L) where applicable.
-Publish and maintain the course syllabus.
-Oversee course management and content delivery.
-Conduct assessments and assign grades for student performance.
-Provide student mentoring and academic support, including designated office hours.


 

Qualifications

Education

Master’s in data science, statistics, computer science, informatics, or related field (healthcare background a plus).

Licenses and Credentials

Experience

  • 1–3 years of teaching/mentoring/tutoring (online experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with Python and/or R, SQL, data visualization, and foundational statistics.
  • Familiarity with D2L/Brightspace or similar LMS; strong written communication.

  • A commitment to graduate student success within the academic environment.
  • The ability to work independently and effectively engage with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, administration, staff, patients, and external partners.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, self-monitoring, and collaborative teamwork, especially in interprofessional settings.
  • Tracking multiple project progress is an essential skill for success in this role.

The salary of the finalist selected will vary based on their course assignment and number of credit hours they will be working during the semester.
