Job description

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a mission-driven health technology company building critical data infrastructure that directly impacts patient outcomes worldwide. This organization is pioneering a patient-centered evidence network — connecting hospitals, life sciences organizations, and partners to generate real-world knowledge from harmonized datasets. Their platform combines longitudinal patient-reported data, digital biomarkers, and privacy-preserving data systems to answer a fundamental question: is each patient receiving the best possible care?

This is a high-ownership engineering role in a fast-moving, purpose-led environment where your work contributes to better healthcare decisions at scale. The team is remote-first, collaborative, and deeply committed to responsible use of sensitive health data.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You will be joining the core engineering team responsible for building and evolving the platform's foundational systems. The stack includes Python, Django, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Apache Kafka, and cloud infrastructure on AWS / GCP / Azure. The platform handles fragmented, regulated healthcare data across multiple integration points — hospitals, partners, patients, and life sciences organizations.

Engineering here means owning meaningful slices of the system end-to-end: backend services, frontend applications, APIs, data pipelines, event-driven workflows, integrations, observability, and AI-enabled product features. AI-assisted development (coding agents, copilots, automated review) is part of the team's standard workflow — not a novelty, but a productivity multiplier held to the same quality standards as any production code.

The required language for this role is English.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems
  • Strong full-stack or backend-leaning fundamentals — able to design, write, review, and debug high-quality code independently
  • Hands-on experience with modern web stacks, ideally including Python, Django, TypeScript, React, and Node.js
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted development tools (coding agents, copilots, AI-assisted debugging, test generation) as part of a real engineering workflow
  • Sound judgment when working with AI-generated code — inspecting diffs, validating assumptions, writing meaningful tests, and owning the final implementation
  • Strong system design skills across APIs, data flows, integrations, reliability, observability, performance, and security trade-offs
  • Experience with evolving codebases where maintainability, migration paths, and incremental delivery matter
  • Ability to connect technical decisions to user value, customer needs, and business outcomes
  • High agency in ambiguous environments — able to create clarity and move work forward without waiting for perfect requirements
  • Strong sense of ownership over production outcomes: how systems behave after they ship matters to you
  • Clear communication with engineers, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative, low-ego working style

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in healthcare, health technology, life sciences, clinical data, real-world evidence, or another regulated enterprise domain
  • Background in data-intensive platforms, healthcare interoperability, analytics products, or privacy-preserving data systems
  • Hands-on experience building or deploying AI/LLM-enabled workflows, agents, or evaluation systems in production
  • Experience using AI coding agents in real delivery environments — integrations, internal tools, refactoring, or production debugging
  • Experience with Apache Kafka, event-driven architectures, workflow systems, or distributed data pipelines
  • Cloud platform experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Familiarity with security, privacy, compliance, and enterprise IT constraints in regulated domains
  • Track record of improving engineering quality through better tooling, documentation, platform patterns, or technical standards
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond individual tasks
