Senior Software Engineer, AI Initiatives

At MineHub, we’re transforming how the world’s largest producers, traders, and consumers manage raw material supply chains. Our platform combines critical B2B marketplace functionality (handling high-volume transactions for global supply chains) with intuitive B2C design, enabling customers to streamline logistics, reduce costs, and build sustainable operations through real-time data integration and predictive analytics.

Our platform is TypeScript on Node.js, and we are applying AI across the product and engineering process. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the migration of our platform from a Python monolith to TypeScript services, and own how we build with AI. That means designing and shipping AI-powered features, setting the technical direction the team follows, and bringing the engineers around you up to speed on AI engineering practices. You will be the person the team turns to on these decisions, so we're looking for someone who has already built and run AI systems in production.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture decisions across the platform.
• Design, build, and maintain backend services in TypeScript on Node.js.
• Take ownership of complex technical problems and choose the architecture that fits the business need.
• Set coding standards and engineering practices for the team.
• Lead the design and delivery of AI-powered features, including LLM integration, retrieval augmented generation, and AI agent workflows.
• Set technical direction for how the team builds and evaluates AI features.
• Train and mentor other engineers on AI engineering practices, through pairing, code review, and internal sessions.
• Review code and give feedback that raises the quality bar for the team.
• Work with Product and other stakeholders to turn business goals into technical plans.
• Communicate technical trade-offs and project status to non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical interviews for engineering roles.

Tech Stack

• TypeScript on Node.js, with NestJS.
• GraphQL, React, and PostgreSQL.
• AWS, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Python and Django (legacy).

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems.
• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Hands-on production experience with TypeScript on Node.js.
• Hands-on production experience building AI-powered features, such as LLM integration, retrieval augmented generation, prompt evaluation, or AI agents.
• Experience setting technical direction and mentoring other engineers.
• Based in Portugal, full remote, with legal eligibility to work there.

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of Python.
• Experience with NestJS or a similar structured Node.js framework.
• Experience running or contributing to technical interviews.
