Job Title

SAP BASIS Consultant – Production Support (P1/P2 Tickets)
Experience: 6–8 Years


Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAP BASIS Consultant to provide production support for critical SAP landscapes, with a strong focus on handling P1 and P2 priority incidents. The role requires solid expertise in SAP system administration, monitoring, performance tuning, transport management, and system availability.

The consultant will be responsible for ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of SAP systems, while working closely with application, infrastructure, database, and business teams to resolve high-priority issues within SLA timelines.


Key Responsibilities

Production Support & Incident Management

  • Handle P1 and P2 priority tickets related to SAP BASIS and ensure resolution within defined SLA/KPI targets.
  • Perform incident analysis, troubleshooting, and impact assessment for critical production issues.
  • Drive major incident resolution calls and coordinate with cross-functional teams during system outages or performance degradation.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and recommend preventive measures.

 

  • Provide timely communication and status updates to stakeholders during critical incidents.

SAP BASIS Administration

  • Administer and support SAP landscapes including development, quality, and production environments.
  • Perform SAP system monitoring, health checks, and issue resolution.
  • Manage SAP instance start/stop, client administration, spool management, background jobs, and user administration support.
  • Support kernel upgrades, profile parameter changes, and patch activities.
  • Manage transport requests and coordinate transport movements across environments.

System Monitoring & Performance Optimization

  • Monitor system performance, work processes, logs, dumps, and queues.
  • Analyze and resolve issues related to:
    • System availability
    • Performance bottlenecks
    • Background job failures
    • Update terminations
    • Short dumps
    • Lock entries
    • Spool issues
  • Coordinate with DB and infrastructure teams for performance improvements and system stability.

Required Skills

  • 6–8 years of experience in SAP BASIS administration and production support
  • Strong experience in handling P1 and P2 tickets in SAP production environments
  • Hands-on experience in:
    • SAP system monitoring and administration
    • Transport management
    • Background job monitoring
    • Spool and printer administration
    • User and client administration

 

    • Kernel and patch activities
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • SAP NetWeaver
    • System performance tuning
    • Work process analysis
    • Short dumps, logs, and trace analysis
  • Experience in incident management, troubleshooting, and RCA
  • Exposure to ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in SAP HANA and S/4HANA environments
  • Knowledge of database administration coordination (HANA/Oracle/SQL Server/DB2)
  • Exposure to SAP Solution Manager, ChaRM, and monitoring tools
  • Experience in system refreshes, upgrades, and patching activities
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted SAP environments such as Azure, AWS, or private cloud
  • Understanding of ITIL support processes

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline
