Position Overview

HealthCentral is seeking a highly motivated and operationally strong Controller to lead the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting functions. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational discipline, audit readiness, and scalable infrastructure as the company continues its transformation and growth.


The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This role will partner closely with executive leadership and serve as a key contributor to financial planning, operational efficiency, compliance, and business decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, billing, payroll support, commissions, and revenue recognition
  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee revenue recognition and expense management in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare and review monthly trial balances, financial statements, reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support operational scalability and audit readiness
  • Lead annual financial audits, tax support processes, and external banking or compliance audits
  • Manage cash flow monitoring and support financial forecasting and budgeting activities in partnership with leadership
  • Oversee the annual 1099 process and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local reporting  requirements
  • Manage lender reporting requirements and maintain compliance with debt agreements, audit requests, and stakeholder information requests
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting workflows, and accounting processes through automation and operational efficiencies
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership teams to provide financial insights that support strategic business objectives
  • Support future team growth, mentorship, and development within the accounting function as the organization scales
  • Contribute to broader strategic and operational initiatives across the company
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience leading accounting operations
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes
  • Experience managing month-end close  processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and implement scalable accounting procedures
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Experience in digital media, healthcare media, SaaS, advertising, or other high-growth environments preferred

Preferred Systems Experience

  • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • AvidXchange or other AP automation platforms
  • Financial reporting, planning, and  business intelligence tools

Additional Qualifications

  • Technical accounting research and memo writing
  • M&A integration experience
  • Systems implementation and migration
  • Equity and Cap Table management
  • Experience in a private equity-backed or sponsor-owned environment
