About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support our U.S. people operations. This role requires strong experience in owning end-to-end HR responsibilities, including payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee relations. You will be a key partner to leadership, ensuring our HR practices are compliant, scalable, and employee-centric. This role does not have direct reports and will work closely with the larger Global HR Operations department.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Compliance
Oversee U.S. payroll processes across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
Partner with tools such as Mosey (or similar) to maintain state payroll tax compliance and registrations
Maintain payroll records and support audits as needed
Benefits Administration (U.S.)
Administer and optimize U.S. employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, retirement, etc.)
Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and escalations
Partner with brokers/vendors to evaluate and improve offerings
Leaves, Accommodations & Time Off
Oversee employee leave programs (FMLA, state leaves, disability, etc.)
Handle workplace accommodations in compliance with ADA and other regulations
Oversee PTO policies and ensure proper tracking and compliance
Employee Relations
Handle employee relations matters including investigations, escalations, and conflict resolution
Support and manage performance issues, disciplinary actions, and terminations in the U.S.
Provide guidance to managers on best practices and risk mitigation
Policies & Compliance
Lead the implementation and ongoing updates of the U.S. Employee Handbook
Ensure HR policies are compliant with evolving U.S. labor laws
Maintain documentation and ensure audit readiness
Workers' Compensation
Administer workers' compensation programs, claims, and reporting
Partner with insurance providers to ensure timely resolution and compliance
Contractor & Vendor Management
Monitor Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for C2C contractors and our Clients
Track and follow up on contract renewals and compliance requirements
Ensure proper classification and documentation of contractors
Qualifications
3–5+ years of HR experience in roles with full ownership of end-to-end HR operations
Proven experience with multi-state U.S. payroll, payroll tax compliance, and multi-state regulations
Hands-on experience with benefits administration and leave management
Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices
Experience handling employee relations, investigations, and terminations
Familiarity with tools like Mosey, HRIS platforms, and payroll systems
Experience supporting remote and distributed teams across multiple states
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a high-growth or startup environment
Exposure to both U.S. and Canadian HR & payroll practices
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
Multilingual proficiency strongly preferred (e.g., Spanish and/or French)
