Job description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our SQL Server databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of SQL Server instances. You will also be responsible for optimizing queries, automating repetitive tasks, and supporting development teams in designing efficient database solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (versions 2012 – current).
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
  • Maintain database systems including back-up, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and execute performance tuning and optimization (PTO).
  • Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and manage users and roles, assign permissions).
  • Work closely with developers to ensure system consistency and collaborate on design and troubleshooting.
  • Manage data import/export processes and perform regular data cleansing and maintenance.
  • Maintain documentation related to database environments and processes.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server database administration and T-SQL.
  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
  • Familiarity with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database) is an advantage.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate
  • MCSA: SQL Server (retired but still relevant in experience)
