Job description

Job Summary: Under direct supervision of the Pharmacy Supervisor or Pharmacist, performs technical procedures to assist in pharmacy services. These include verifying prescription refill requests, typing labels, counting and pouring medications, maintaining inventories, balancing revenue, and coordinating Pharmacy Clerks. Focuses on patient needs, builds rapport, and resolves issues promptly.
  • Location and Schedule: Onsite in Aurora, CO, US. 40 hours per week. Permanent position.
  • Salary: USD $26.35 – $35.89 per hour.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Knows and complies with all quality, safety, and emergency policies.
  • Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership.
  • Ensures patient safety in medication preparation, procedures, infection prevention, and fall prevention using two patient identifiers and procedural time outs.
  • Reports safety hazards, accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Verifies prescription refill requests by reviewing original forms and patient ID to check authorization based on refills remaining and time requirements.
  • Contacts medical office personnel by phone or message for refill authorization as needed.
  • Types prescription labels from written instructions, including patient name, physician, medication name, strength, usage, prescription number, date, and initials.
  • Places labels and forms in specified locations for processing.
  • Selects medications for orders, counts or pours dosages into containers, affixes labels and refill instructions.
  • Calculates prescription costs using standard pricing, completes sales receipts, and places orders for Pharmacist evaluation.
  • Maintains inventory of prescription medications at established levels and per storage procedures.
  • Conducts periodic audits, notifies supervisor of reordering needs.
  • Checks and stores prepackaged medications from warehouse, restocks shelves, and keeps inventory and work area neat.
  • Balances daily revenue by totaling cash register and reconciling cash, checks, and credit card receipts.
  • Reviews inconsistencies with personnel, reconciles totals, summarizes data on cash reports, packages money, prepares bank deposits.
  • Assists supervisor in coordinating workflow and activities of Pharmacy Clerks based on patient volume and staffing.
  • Provides direction, guidance, and assistance to Clerks.
  • Monitors cashiering for security and controls.
  • Assists in resolving daily operations problems.
  • Performs Pharmacy Clerk responsibilities as required.
Technical Skills:
  • Verifies prescriptions and refills using patient ID and authorization rules.
  • Types accurate prescription labels with all required details.
  • Counts, pours, and labels medications precisely.
  • Calculates costs and completes sales receipts.
  • Manages inventory, conducts audits, restocks shelves.
  • Balances cash, reconciles transactions, prepares deposits.
  • Operates cash register securely.
