A Product Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of a product by designing and executing test strategies. They collaborate with product managers, developers, and QA teams to validate product functionality and ensure that it meets business and customer requirements before release.
Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on product requirements.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing for web or software products.
Identify, document, and track bugs and defects using defect tracking tools.
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA teams to understand product features and testing requirements.
Validate new features, enhancements, and bug fixes before release.
Perform backend validation, API testing, and database validation when required.
Ensure product quality across different environments (QA, staging, production).
Participate in sprint planning, requirement discussions, and product reviews.
Provide detailed test reports and QA updates to stakeholders.
Contribute to test automation initiatives where applicable.
Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Bug Life Cycle.
Experience with manual testing and test case design.
Familiarity with bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Bugzilla).
Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger.
Basic understanding of databases and SQL queries.
Ability to perform UI and backend validation.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with automation testing tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.).
Knowledge of Agile / Scrum methodologies.
Experience testing web applications, APIs, or SaaS products.
Basic scripting knowledge (JavaScript, Python, or Java).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
1–4 years of experience in software testing or QA engineering.
