Help build the structured truth layer for enterprise AI.
Paligo is hiring a Senior AI Engineer to join Paligo Labs, the small strategic team building the next layer of our business. Your focus will be the knowledge graph and RAG retrieval systems that turn structured technical content into reliable grounding for enterprise AI.
This is a hybrid position based out of our Stockholm office. Candidates must currently reside in Sweden and hold the legal right to work there. We are unable to sponsor work visas or offer relocation for this role.
Paligo is an industry-leading SaaS company in the Component Content Management Systems (CCMS) space. Global teams at Amazon, Allianz, Mitsubishi, and the European Commission use our platform to create, manage, publish, and translate technical content. We're profitable, growing, and now building the next layer of the business on top of that foundation.
Paligo Labs is a small, high-trust team, three to six people, chartered to deliver our two strategic horizons: a hosted platform for enterprise customers, and an AI grounding infrastructure that lets organizations anchor their AI systems to verified, structured content. The team operates with the autonomy of a startup and the backing of an established product company, with the CEO as acting PM.
Labs is a vehicle for delivering these strategic bets, not a permanent home. Once the current horizons are in production with their lighthouse customers, the team may dissolve and members will move into whatever part of Paligo best fits their strengths and the company's needs at that point. We're being honest about this upfront because we want people who are excited about the work, not the org chart.
You'll be one of several AI engineers at Paligo, and the one focused most directly on Horizon 3: the AI grounding product. The technical core of this work is our knowledge graph and the retrieval layer built on top of it, the systems that take the structured, versioned, multilingual content authored in Paligo and make it usable as ground truth for enterprise AI systems.
This is hands-on, senior, individual-contributor work. You'll own architectural decisions on the retrieval and graph side, prototype quickly with lighthouse customers, and scale what works into production. Success looks like enterprises running their AI on top of Paligo because the answers are better when they do.
Design and build the knowledge graph that represents structured content, its relationships, and its provenance.
Own the RAG retrieval pipeline end-to-end — chunking strategy, embeddings, hybrid retrieval, re-ranking, evaluation.
Drive measurable improvements in retrieval quality, hallucination rates, token economics, and latency.
Work directly with lighthouse customers to shape what "grounding" means in practice for enterprise AI deployments.
Contribute to the architectural foundations that the rest of Paligo's AI work will build on.
Partner with our CISO to keep what we build compliant with our security standards and data protection obligations.
Required
5+ years as a software engineer, with significant full-stack experience.
2+ years shipping AI features to production — not just experiments.
Direct, hands-on experience building RAG systems and working with vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval evaluation.
Familiarity with knowledge graphs, graph databases, or structured retrieval approaches — and the judgement to know when graph-based retrieval beats vector search, and when it doesn't.
Strong TypeScript, Python, backend, and cloud infrastructure skills (AWS preferred).
Containerization and infrastructure-as-code.
Familiarity with agentic workflows and MCP-style tool integration.
The product-sense to make good tradeoffs between retrieval quality, cost, and latency.
Professional fluency in English.
Nice to have
Experience with multilingual or structured/semi-structured content at scale.
Familiarity with the Rust programming language.
Prior experience at a SaaS company.
You'll do well here if you like owning hard, ambiguous problems and shipping real systems against them. You're comfortable being one of a few people responsible for an outcome the company cares about. You've worked enough on production AI to know where the sharp edges are, and you're motivated by the engineering challenge as much as by the technology.
A small team, a clear mandate, and direct access to the people making strategic decisions.
A long-term seat at Paligo. Labs is one chapter, the company is the bigger story.
Competitive benefits, flexible working hours, and a hybrid setup based in Stockholm.
A culture that takes work seriously and the rest of life seriously too.
If building reliable AI grounding on top of structured content sounds like the problem you want to spend the next few years on, we'd like to hear from you.
(The final step of our recruitment process is a mandatory background check, including a financial and criminal check. Any offer of employment is contingent on its successful completion.)
