Job description

The Mission

Enterprise AI is only as reliable as the knowledge it draws from. As organizations deploy AI agents, copilots, and automation at scale, they are discovering a hard truth: most enterprise knowledge is unstructured, ungoverned, and unfit for machines to trust.

Paligo exists to solve this. We are a fast-growing SaaS scale-up (80+ people, 450+ customers across 38 countries) offering an end-to-end Component Content Management System (CCMS). We enable global enterprises to create, manage, and deliver structured content where accuracy and governance are non-negotiable.

Our ambition is to evolve from a documentation platform into the structured content infrastructure that enterprises need to make AI trustworthy. We aren't just bolting on AI features; we are evolving a mature, enterprise-grade platform to unlock entirely new categories of value. That evolution needs strong engineers who can both build the product and shape how we build it.

Role Overview

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our product engineering teams. This is a hands-on role for a builder who is also ready to take responsibility for a small team. You'll spend most of your time writing code, reviewing pull requests, and shaping the technical direction of your team's domain. You'll also own the people side of the team, running 1-1s, performance reviews, and the day-to-day mentorship that makes engineers better at their craft.

You'll report to the CTO and work as part of Paligo's product engineering organization, helping us evolve a mature SaaS platform into the structured content infrastructure that enterprise AI depends on.

Key Responsibilities

Build the Product: Stay hands-on with the code, working across our PHP/JavaScript/Vue platform and the Python and TypeScript microservices around it.

Own the Direction: Set the technical direction for your team's domain, including architecture, design choices, and quality standards.

Lead the Team: Guide a small team of engineers through code review, pairing, design discussions, and direct technical mentorship.

Manage the People: Own the people management of your team, including 1-1s, performance reviews, and addressing underperformance.

Drive AI-Native Work: Champion agentic tooling and AI-assisted development within your team. Set the example through your own practice.

Ship Small and Often: Run a lightweight process with a bias for shipping. Partner closely with product and design to deliver real customer value at a steady pace.

Grow the People: Support your engineers through feedback and goal setting. Help them get better at what they do.

Raise the Bar: Contribute to hiring and help lift the engineering standard across Paligo.

What You Bring

Must-haves:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building production SaaS products

  • Strong knowledge of our core stack or comparable equivalents: PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue, Python, AWS, Docker

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers, whether formally as a tech lead or informally as the senior voice on a team

  • Track record of shipping in agile environments, with a bias for shipping small and often

  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted and agentic coding tools as part of real workflows

  • Clear, confident communicator across engineering, product, and other stakeholders

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with trunk-based development, DDD, and continuous delivery practices

  • Background in a fast-moving SaaS environment where quality and speed both matter

  • Experience evolving a long-lived codebase thoughtfully, balancing new work with the realities of what's already there.

  • Prior experience with formal people management, including running 1-1s, performance reviews, and handling underperformance

How You Work

You're a builder at heart with strong opinions about how good software gets made. You're genuinely excited about how AI is changing the way we build, and you bring that energy to your team. You'd rather ship something useful today than something perfect next quarter. You lift the people around you through how you write code, how you give feedback, and how you show up in design conversations.

Why Join Paligo?

A Pivotal Moment: Join us as we scale the infrastructure powering the next generation of enterprise AI content, a category we believe is ours to shape.

Real Impact: The systems you build directly affect hundreds of global enterprises depending on Paligo every day.

Grounded Culture: We value clarity, craftsmanship, and substance over buzzwords.

Flexible & Global: A collaborative, remote-friendly culture with a strong presence in Stockholm.

Perks & Benefits: Competitive compensation, wellness allowance, professional development support, and of course - Swedish fika culture.

Location: Solna, Sweden - with remote flexibility in line with Paligo's hybrid policy. Occasional travel for company and team events.

The final step of our recruitment process is a mandatory background check, including a financial and criminal check. Any offer of employment is contingent on its successful completion.
