  • Promote safe and responsible driving; help clients develop tools to maintain an alcohol- and drug-free lifestyle; attend staff meetings and complete other duties as assigned

Job description

Counselor provides essential support and guidance to individuals charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Responsibilities include Conducting intake assessments and interviews for new clients; facilitating group and individual counseling sessions and educational classes, promoting safe and responsible driving practices, and helping individuals develop the tools and support they need to maintain an alcohol- and drug-free lifestyle.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead individual and/or group education and training sessions about the negative consequences of driving under influence. 
  • Teach First and Multiple Offender classes.
  • Conduct intake interviews with clients, face to face interviews, and conduct assessments of participants’ alcohol and other drug problems efficiently and promptly. 
  • Complete and submit all client case notes from assessment interviews and group sessions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and course completion.
  • Attend DUI staff meetings as required. 
  • Complete other duties and related projects as assigned.
