Job description

The Mission

Backlight is a global media technology company dedicated to improving the entire video content lifecycle, from creation to monetization. Our suite of SaaS solutions empowers creative teams at every stage of production.

We're building a world-class Revenue Operations function, and this Sr. Sales Operations Manager will be the linchpin for our Deal Desk and Order Operations. You’ll own the critical processes that ensure every deal is structured, approved, booked, and compensated with precision, directly influencing revenue accuracy and sales velocity.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Deal Desk expert, guiding Sales, Finance, and Legal on complex deal structures and approvals.

  • Own the end-to-end booking process for all new, expansion, and renewal transactions, ensuring accuracy and a clean audit trail.

  • Coordinate with finance during month and quarter-end to reconcile bookings and resolve discrepancies?

  • Support Sr Director with annual planning by building and maintaining capacity models and compensation plan modelling

  • Oversee and validate commission calculations prepared by Sales Ops Analyst for approximately 50 variable comp roles.

  • Create, document, and enforce clear deal treatment policies to streamline the quote-to-cash process.

  • Build key Deal Desk performance metrics and recommend system enhancements.

  • Train and enable sales teams on deal processes and policies.

Requirements

You’ve navigated the complexities of B2B SaaS sales operations and are ready to bring your expertise to a growing company.

  • 5+ years in Sales Operations, Deal Desk, or Order Management within B2B SaaS.

  • Hands-on experience managing commission calculations and bookings treatment.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce (reports, dashboards, opportunity management).

  • Demonstrated ability to build and enforce deal policies while fostering strong cross-functional relationships.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of maintaining audit-ready documentation.

  • Clear, concise communication skills, able to translate operational complexity for any audience.

Bonus points

  • Experience with quote-to-cash transformation or significant process redesign initiatives.

  • Background in mid-market or enterprise SaaS with multi-product offerings.
