Job Role: Senior Accountant

Compensation range: $2,000 AUD - $3,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: The company is an Australian telecommunications and technology distribution business with:

• Multiple sales channels (Solutions, Distribution, Marine subsidiary)
• Significant inventory holdings
• Commission-based sales structure
• Active cash flow and margin management focus
• Regular bank and board reporting requirements

Role Overview: We are seeking to engage a Senior Accountant with strong commercial and management reporting capability to support our existing Australian finance team. The role will support commercial decision-making and reporting discipline. 

We require a resource with experience supporting a mid-sized, inventory-based distribution and solutions business. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, and management packs
• Perform variance analysis and provide clear financial commentary and recommendations
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations and reporting requirements
• Maintain accurate accrual accounting records and reconciliations
• Support inventory accounting processes, including stocktakes and inventory reporting
• Analyse financial data to support business decision-making
• Work closely with stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and financial processes
• Utilise ERP and accounting systems effectively, including MYOB Advanced/Acumatica and XERO

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting role
• Strong background in management reporting and financial analysis
• Experience working within inventory-based businesses
• Solid understanding of Australian tax law and accounting requirements
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems such as MYOB Advanced/Acumatica and XERO
• Strong accrual accounting knowledge
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prepare detailed financial commentary and reporting insights
