As a Technical Specialist, you will support the Case Management teams by providing up-to-date technical guidance and training specific to the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act), as well as assisting the team with their administration of the SRC Act and supporting recovery outcomes for employees. This role operates in a customer-centric environment focused on the proactive management of claims.

Using your extensive knowledge of the SRC Act, you will coach and train team members and provide accurate, strategic advice in line with contract requirements and the SRC Act. This role suits a motivated self-starter who enjoys providing technical support, training, and advice to Case Managers in a fast-paced environment.

This is permanent, full time position based in either our Melbourne or Canberra office, with flexibility to work from home for up to 3 days per week once fully trained. 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake a variety of technical functions including a primary focus on reconsiderations, appeals, and reviews of compensation entitlements
  • Provide technical advice, training, and assistance to Case Managers, and internal and external stakeholders based on sound understanding of the legislation, case law and risk management considerations
  • Develop, coach and train a group of Case Managers which supports the delivery of a world class customer experience in line with relevant key performance measures
  • Work within the legislative and regulatory environment to optimise outcomes for all stakeholders
  • Apply sound risk management principles to ensure compliance and sustainable decision making

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong experience and demonstrated ability in administering and managing a portfolio of claims and providing sound technical advice and training functions under the SRC Act.
  • Strong experience and demonstrated ability in best practice dispute resolution, negotiation and mediation
  • Strong experience and demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong experience in capability to develop, conduct training and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience in coaching, training and mentoring Case Managers in the workers compensation industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Evidence of excellent stakeholder management and decision making in a Workers Compensation setting
