Roles & Responsibilities

  • 7+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise environments
  • Deep understanding of enterprise networking concepts and architectures with strong troubleshooting across complex environments
  • Deep expertise in routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs)
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: SD-WAN, MPLS, data center networking, network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC), and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP); automation or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a plus

  • Designs, builds, and deploys complex network solutions (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, data center, cloud connectivity, security infrastructure) and develops low-level designs aligned with architectural standards
  • Serves as Tier 3 escalation point; diagnoses complex issues across routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing; leads root-cause analysis and long-term remediation
  • Monitors performance, capacity, and reliability; identifies risks, bottlenecks, and technical debt; drives proactive improvements
  • Leads engineering workstreams for network projects, mentors junior engineers, coordinates with PMs, vendors, and cross-functional teams; conducts design reviews and shares best practices

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

The Senior Network Engineer is a hands-on technical expert responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of the organization's network infrastructure. This role serves as a deep subject matter expert and technical escalation point for the network team.

The Senior Network Engineer works independently on complex initiatives, mentors junior engineers, and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable network solutions. This is an individual contributor role with significant technical ownership and influence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Network Design & Implementation

  • Designs, builds, and deploys complex network solutions (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, data center, cloud connectivity, security infrastructure)
  • Develops low-level designs aligned with architectural standards

Troubleshooting & Escalation

  • Serves as Tier 3 escalation point
  • Diagnoses complex issues across routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing
  • Leads root cause analysis and long-term remediation

Infrastructure Optimization

  • Monitors performance, capacity, and reliability
  • Identifies risks, bottlenecks, and technical debt
  • Drives proactive improvements

Standards & Documentation

  • Maintains architecture diagrams, runbooks, and procedures
  • Ensures documentation quality and usability

Project Leadership (Technical)

  • Leads engineering workstreams for network projects
  • Coordinates with PMs, vendors, and cross-functional teams

Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing

  • Guides junior engineers
  • Conducts design reviews and shares best practices

Vendor & Technology Evaluation

  • Evaluates tools and platforms
  • Leads proof-of-concepts and provides recommendations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Deep understanding of enterprise networking concepts and architectures
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across complex environments
  • Understands interdependencies across infrastructure, applications, and security
  • Maintains high standards for reliability, documentation, and execution
  • Works effectively across Infrastructure, Security, Cloud, and vendors
  • Clearly explains technical concepts to varied audiences
  • Produces strong technical documentation

Education, Certification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) required
  • 7+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise environments required
  • Deep expertise in routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs) required

Experience in at least two:

  • SD-WAN
  • MPLS
  • Network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC)
  • Data center networking
  • Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Other:

  • Proficiency with monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives independently
  • Experience in hybrid or multi-cloud environments preferred
  • Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience with automation or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Python, Ansible) preferred
