Responsibilities

  • Manage development activities for assigned projects across Canada with a focus on Quebec; collaborate with stakeholders to drive results and track risks, schedule, and budget
  • Develop and manage project budgets, identify and mitigate risks, ensure milestones are met on schedule, and optimize value within budget
  • Own project analytics, incorporating technical knowledge into cost optimization analyses and integrating these into financial models; coordinate with finance to input Canada project data into renewables modeling
  • Coordinate with permitting, land, origination, meteorology, engineering and construction, transmission, legal, finance, accounting, operations, asset management, and other internal teams to maximize opportunities; support board deliverables, budgeting processes, RELAY activities, and tracking/reporting; manage junior development team

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

  • Manages development activities for assigned projects across Canada, with a specific focus on the Quebec market.
  • Collaborates with all project stakeholders, building relationships and team spirit to drive results.
  • Develops and manages budgets and identifies and mitigates risks, to ensure successful development of projects.
  • Supports identification of new project opportunities, in coordination with the rest of the management team.
  • Is able to achieve project development milestones on schedule while limiting risk, optimizing value, and staying within budget.
  • The candidate is able to own project analytics, incorporating technical knowledge of the subject matter into cost optimization analyses, and integrating such analyses into financial models.
  • Collaborates closely as an integral member of the Quebec/Canada development team, to advance our understanding of the market.
  • Works closely with the finance team to incorporate Canada project inputs into financial models and integrate with renewables modeling.

Key Accountabilities

  • Executes and optimizes development projects in coordination with management, ensuring timely decisions are made, involving stakeholders in these decisions as appropriate, and tracking risks, schedule, and budget progress against the plan. Is able to build and maintain a basic project financial model for early-stage projects with the goal of evaluating returns for a Creation Bank level project.
  • Coordinates with the permitting, land, origination, meteorology, engineering and construction, transmission, fundamentals, stakeholder engagement, legal, finance, accounting, operations, asset management, and other internal teams, to ensure these groups provide appropriate support for development projects, to maximize the opportunities.
  • Supports internal Board deliverables, budgeting processes, RELAY activities, and other tracking and reporting processes for relevant projects.
  • Supports creation of valuable new project development opportunities, in coordination with management.
  • Manages junior development team members.
Qualifications:

Educational Requirements

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (engineering, project management, finance, etc.) is required.

 

Required Work Experience

5-7 years of experience in the power industry with significant renewable energy project development, project finance, or asset management experience.

 

Additional Requirements

Candidate must be completely bilingual (verbal and writing) in French and English, and be based in the province of Quebec, ideally in Montreal or Quebec city.

 

Candidate must be willing to travel within the province of Quebec, and in other jurisdictions across Canada, up to 30% of the time.
