A degree in computer science, business informatics, data engineering, or a comparable qualification gained through practical experience
At least 5 years of experience in building, developing, and operating production-ready data platforms, data pipelines, or analytical systems
Strong proficiency in at least one data engineering programming language (Python, Scala, Java, or C#) and solid SQL, data modeling, and performance optimization
Experience with modern data architectures and platforms (data lakes, data lakehouses, data warehouses, OLAP databases) and design/operation of batch and streaming data pipelines
Requirements:
Shape the data platform from the ground up by collaborating with architecture, development, product management, and other stakeholders to define the data foundation for data-driven decisions
Evaluate which data architectures and technologies best fit requirements (OLAP, data lake/lakehouse, streaming platforms) with considerations for scalability, operations, costs, and performance

Job description
Welcome to baramundi!
“Welcome to the world of innovation and diversity!” The software market is rapidly evolving, and our development team is always at the forefront. To strengthen our Research & Development departments, we are looking for creative minds and passionate developers who will take our cloud solutions to the next level. Our success story is written 100 percent in Germany, and at our Augsburg location, well-coordinated teams of software developers, testers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile Coaches work on the software products of tomorrow. The only thing we are missing at the moment is you.
In addition to a great team, we offer you the opportunity to work from home, actively participate in product development, and contribute your ideas at any time.
Do what you do best:
HELP SHAPE OUR DATA PLATFORM FROM THE GROUND UP You’ll play a key role in building our future data infrastructure and, together with the architecture, development, product management, and other stakeholders, help shape the technological foundation for data-driven decisions, products, and services
FINDING THE RIGHT DATA ARCHITECTURE Together with us, you’ll evaluate which architecture and technologies best fit our requirements—whether an OLAP database, data lake, lakehouse, streaming platform, or a hybrid solution. You’ll leverage your experience to prepare sound decisions regarding scalability, operations, costs, performance, and future scalability
DATA PIPELINES THAT DELIVER RELIABLY You design, develop, and operate robust, scalable, and maintainable data pipelines—from connecting various data sources through transformation and validation to delivery for analytics, product, and AI use cases
DATA ENGINEERING WITH PRODUCTION-GRADE STANDARDS You approach data engineering like professional software development: automated, tested, versioned, monitorable, documented, and reliable in operation. In doing so, you set standards for quality, security, governance, and traceability of our data flows
BUILDING TEAMS You’ll have the opportunity to actively shape our data engineering landscape in close collaboration with product owners, software development, DevOps, cloud architecture, and other stakeholders
SHARE YOUR SUCCESSES You’ll bring your experience to the team and beyond, establish best practices, and help others make data secure, efficient, and useful
HAVE FUN You’ll find your place in our diverse and collaborative environment and enjoy helping to shape a new area of focus, taking on responsibility, and growing alongside us
What we appreciate about you:
A degree in computer science, business informatics, data engineering, or a comparable qualification gained through practical experience
At least 5 years of experience in building, developing, and operating production-ready data platforms, data pipelines, or analytical systems
Strong proficiency in at least one relevant programming language for data engineering, e.g., Python, Scala, Java, C#
Solid experience with SQL, data modeling, and performance optimization in analytical or data-intensive systems
Experience with modern data architectures and platforms, e.g., data lakes, data lakehouses (e.g., open table formats (Iceberg, Hudi, Delta Lake), query engines (Trino, Azure Synapse)), data warehouses, OLAP databases (e.g., ClickHouse, Apache Doris, Apache Druid), or column-oriented systems
Experience in the design and operation of batch and, ideally, streaming data pipelines
Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, alerting, data quality, testing, schema evolution, lineage, and governance in production data platforms
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to various stakeholders
Team-oriented personality with high standards for quality, analytical thinking, and a passion for building out a new area of expertise within the company, establishing standards, and actively sharing knowledge
Very good English skills; German skills are a plus
Bonus: Experience with data-intensive product, telemetry, analytics, or AI use cases—particularly in building data platforms that can also be used for machine learning, LLM/RAG scenarios, or data-driven product development
