  • Stakeholder communication and data management: Communicate with clients and stakeholders, provide updates, and resolve issues; maintain and update cost databases and estimating tools

Job Role: Estimator/Project Manager

Compensation range: $1,500 - $1,800 AUD  Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9:00AM - 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Landscape construction company specializing in high-end residential landscaping, particularly across the eastern suburbs of Sydney. The company provides landscape design, construction, and maintenance services, handling projects ranging from backyard refurbishments through to large-scale outdoor construction works.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator / Project Manager to lead projects from initial costing through to successful delivery. This hybrid role combines accurate project estimation with hands-on project management, ensuring all work is financially viable, well-planned, and executed efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

Estimating:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and detailed take-offs based on project plans and specifications
  • Analyze drawings, materials, labor, and time requirements to develop competitive bids
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and proposals
  • Identify risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Maintain and update cost databases and estimating tools

Project Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee projects from award to completion
  • Develop project timelines, schedules, and resource allocation plans
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Track project progress, costs, and performance against budget
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and quality requirements
  • Communicate regularly with clients and stakeholders, providing updates and resolving issues
  • Handle change orders, variations, and contract administration

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in Buildxact  
  • Proven experience in estimating and/or project management within construction or a related industry
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in estimating and project management software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
