Job Title: FinOps Consultant
Role Overview
The FinOps Consultant is responsible for helping organizations optimize and manage cloud financial operations. This role works closely with engineering, finance, procurement, and business teams to improve cloud cost visibility, governance, budgeting, forecasting, and resource efficiency across multi-cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and optimize cloud spending across platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
- Develop cost optimization strategies and identify savings opportunities
- Monitor cloud usage, budgets, and forecasting models
- Create dashboards, reports, and financial insights for stakeholders
- Implement tagging strategies and cost allocation methodologies
- Support governance and cloud financial management best practices
- Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud Engineering, and Finance teams to improve operational efficiency
- Recommend rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and workload optimization initiatives
- Assist with cloud migration financial analysis and ROI calculations
- Ensure compliance with organizational cloud spending policies
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Finance, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in cloud operations, FinOps, cloud cost management, or related areas
- Strong understanding of cloud billing models and pricing structures
- Experience with cloud cost management and monitoring tools
- Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (Python, PowerShell, SQL is a plus)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- FinOps Certified Practitioner certification
- Experience with tools such as:
- Apptio Cloudability
- VMware Aria Cost
- CloudHealth
- Experience in multi-cloud enterprise environments
- Knowledge of cloud governance and security frameworks
Technical Skills
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
- Cost optimization and reporting
- Financial modeling and forecasting
- Data analysis and dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Automation and scripting basics
