Scope of Work 

Project Coordinator – Philippines Literacy Project 

Manila, Philippines 

 

Dates: June 15, 2026 to June 15, 2027 

 

Background & Rationale 

 

Room to Read envisions a world in which all children can pursue a quality education that enables them to reach their full potential and contribute to their community and the world. To achieve this vision, Room to Read is committed to the ongoing improvement of our programs by building on the latest research and our practical experiences in the field of literacy.  This currently takes place through our work in 16 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean where Room to Read works with schools and communities.  

 

As part of this goal, Room to Read is embarking on a new literacy project in the Philippines. The Philippines literacy project will finalize new titles, started in 2025, for print and distribution, as well as pilot Room to Read’s first community library program. The program will run through 2027 and may be extended, depending on funding availability.  

 

 

Scope of Work and Timeline 

 

The Project Coordinator supports the delivery of Room to Read’s Philippines literacy project by managing day-to-day coordination, logistics, and vendor engagement. Working closely with the Project Manager (PM) and Technical Lead, this role ensures that book development, printing, distribution, and library activities are executed on time and with strong operational oversight.

Book Finalization and Printing  

 

Q3 and Q4 

Support Technical Lead to finalize 12 new titles, including:   

  • Communicating with publishers on PM-related tasks, including collecting final deliverables, preparing invoices, etc. 

  • Supporting field testing, including logistical prep  

  • Reviewing expense reports for field testing and other meetings, and working with global PM to process   

 

End of 2026 and Q1 2027 

Support printing and distribution, including:  

  • Collecting at least 3 quotes from local printers  

  • Assisting in creation of distribution plan with Technical Lead 

  • Overseeing distribution and shipping, ensuring all packages  

 

Library Program Coordination  (Ongoing)

 

Support creation of library plans, including workplan and budgets. 

Support logistical work for library establishment, including:   

  • Procurement of materials, books, furniture for libraries   

  • Support training workshops, including logistical prep   

  • Reviewing expense reports for training workshops and other meetings, and working with global PM to process  

  • Liaise with partner institutions of Room to Read's library establishment program including but not limited to DepEd, National Library of the Philippines, Local Government Units, and other agencies and NGOs that are part of the local library ecosystem.  

 

Qualifications  

 

  • 3+ years of experience in project coordination, operations, or program support 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines and logistics simultaneously 

  • Experience coordinating vendors, procurement, or service providers 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, expense tracking, or financial documentation 

  • Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English along with ability to communicate with external partners and stakeholders 

  • High attention to detail and follow-through in operational and administrative tasks 

 

Terms of Contract 

The contracted amount will be a fixed fee of $650 USD per month, for a total payment of $7800. In addition, Coordinator will be reimbursed for pre-approved costs for the workshops, trainings, and field testing up to $2,000 USD. Contract extension into 2027 to be discussed at the end of 2026.
