ABOUT THE FRED HOLLOWS FOUNDATION

The Fred Hollows Foundation is an international development organisation working to prevent blindness and restore sight. We continue to carry on the legacy of Professor Fred Hollows, who believed every person had the right to quality eye care, no matter where they live. The Foundation has grown to work in more than 25+ countries throughout Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, as well as Australia. The Foundation has restored sight to more than 3 million people worldwide. We have an ambitious five-year strategic plan that aims to take us even closer to realising our vision of a world in which no person is needlessly blind, or vision impaired and Indigenous Australians exercise their right to sight and good health.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly capable Finance Coordinator – Pacific to support and coordinate financial management and accounting activities across multiple Pacific Island countries.

In this key regional role, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, strong compliance with organisational and donor requirements, and high-quality financial advice to support program delivery. Working closely with program teams, implementing partners, and senior stakeholders, you will help align financial planning with operational priorities and strengthen financial capacity across the Pacific portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate day-to-day financial operations across Pacific Island country programs, including management accounting, planning, forecasting and donor reporting.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance with The Foundation’s financial policies, procedures and reporting standards.
  • Provide high-quality financial advice, analysis and technical guidance to program teams.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, contributing to re-forecasting and activity replanning.
  • Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate balance sheet reporting.
  • Support end-of-year financial processes, including preparation of annual financial statements within agreed timeframes.
  • Work closely with implementing partners to assess and strengthen financial management capacity.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and statutory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Stay up to date with International Accounting Standards and emerging financial systems.
  • Contribute positively to a culture of collaboration, accountability and wellbeing.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced finance professional who is confident working in complex, multi-country environments. You enjoy partnering with non-finance stakeholders, can balance operational detail with big-picture thinking, and are motivated by purpose-driven work.

What you’ll need to Succeed

  • CPA or CA qualification with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally in a regional or multi-country context.
  • Strong experience in project costing, budgeting, forecasting and financial risk assessment.
  • Sound knowledge of reconciliations; consolidated financial statements; treasury; cash flow monitoring; and management reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple financial systems and adapt to new technologies.
  • High-level communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience working in an international NGO or multinational organisation.
  • Donor-funded financial management and reporting.
  • Experience supporting or leading change initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. Oracle, Sun Systems), business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI) and planning systems.
