Job description

Coordinates the overall Information Systems and Operations with the objective to support the needs of teaching, administrative, research and student functions of the University.

MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES

  • Develops a comprehensive strategic plan that integrates IT strategies and resources as per the goals and objectives of the University.
  • Identifies IT requirements and prioritizes current and future resources to accomplish the IT strategic plan
  • Provides leadership with the continuous investigation of new technologies and product available in the market. At the same time recommends the acquisition of those products that will satisfy University’s initiatives and priorities
  • Develops information GDPR policies, security policies, technical standards, procedures and controls that will ensure efficient and secure environment. Maintains compliance with University’s policies by monitoring operations and implementing corrective measures as needed
  • Provides direction and leadership in the review of present IT systems and assets, and in the development/acquisition and deployment of new assets and revised systems. Assesses campus-identified needs and priorities and develops strategies to meet those needs
  • Integrates and coordinates the development and implementation of IT applications across the University to minimize duplication of effort, realizes operating efficiencies, and minimizes IT costs. Promotes integration of networks and hardware with emphasis on the mutual goals of increased efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assesses competing vendor and equipment alternatives, prepares and manages bid processes, and awards contracts in collaboration with the CEO & President of the Council. Establishes administrative processes that optimize (cost/benefit valuation) purchased services and equipment across the University. Develops and executes policies for the standardization of IT equipment and software across the University. Coordinates system-wide vendor oversight, problem resolution and pilot initiatives
  • Manages the operations (facilities and maintenance) division; is responsible for the preparation of operating budget; prepares annual expense forecast and justifications; manages expenditures within approved budget; adjusts priorities and operating plans accordingly
  • Operates the information technology infrastructure necessary to deliver technology services in support of students, faculty and staff in their teaching, learning, and research endeavors
  • Serves as the University resource responsible for supporting administrative information systems. Participates in the development, maintenance, and secure operation of the state-of-the-art applications using centralized student and other databases
  • Oversees the training of faculty and staff and provides the skills needed to enrich their educational knowledge
  • Is responsible for all telecommunications services within and among University locations and outside networks to accommodate communication needs
