Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 20+ years of experience in transportation planning, engineering, or ITS with a track record in Texas public sector
  • 15+ years in leadership roles and 15+ years of business development experience in Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations
  • Professional licensure preferred: PE, TE, PTOE, IMSA, and/or AICP; strong executive leadership and stakeholder engagement skills

Requirements:

  • Lead and execute the Texas business strategy aligned with regional growth objectives and drive overall business development with state, regional, and local agencies
  • Serve as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge on large, multidisciplinary transportation and ITS projects, providing technical leadership across traffic engineering, planning, ITS, and mobility technologies
  • Develop and grow relationships with Texas agencies; support proposals, interviews, and contract negotiations; represent the firm at conferences and professional organizations
  • Oversee technical project delivery, guide key engineering decisions, mentor senior BD/PM/technical professionals, and travel locally and statewide as required

Vice President – Transportation & ITS (Texas)

 

We are seeking an experienced Vice President – Transportation & Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to lead and grow my clients Texas transportation business. This is a strategic leadership role focused on delivering innovative engineering and technology solutions that make mobility safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.

This is a remote position, and candidates must reside in Texas (preferably Austin, San Antonio, or Houston).



The Opportunity

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Texas business strategy, expanding client relationships across state, regional, and local public agencies, and leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams across transportation planning, traffic engineering, ITS, and emerging mobility technologies.

This role requires a proven leader with a strong track record of business capture and client development within the Texas transportation market.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute Texas business strategy aligned with regional growth objectives
  • Drive business development activities including pre-marketing, proposal preparation, interviews, and contract negotiations
  • Develop and grow relationships with state, regional, and local public transportation agencies across Texas
  • Serve as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge on large, multidisciplinary transportation and ITS projects
  • Provide technical leadership across areas such as:
    • Traffic engineering & transportation planning
    • Signal operations, timing & coordination
    • ITS planning, design & systems engineering
    • Communications networks & system integration
    • Connected & automated vehicles
    • Tolling systems
  • Support technical project delivery and guide key engineering decisions on complex, innovative mobility projects
  • Represent the business through direct client engagement, conference presentations, and active participation in professional organizations
  • Mentor and lead senior business development, project management, and technical professionals
  • Identify client needs and develop strategic plans to drive business capture and retention
  • Travel locally and statewide as required


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Professional licensure preferred: PE, TE, PTOE, IMSA, and/or AICP
  • 20+ years of experience in transportation planning, engineering, or ITS
  • 15+ years in leadership roles, ideally leading multidisciplinary teams
  • 15+ years of business development experience in Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations
  • 15+ years of experience working with and successfully capturing projects with Texas state, regional, and/or local public agencies
  • Demonstrated success serving major public sector clients in Texas
  • Strong executive leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Deep understanding of Texas transportation market trends, regulatory frameworks, and emerging mobility technologies
  • Passion for advancing the transportation industry


Compensation

Competitive base salary along with approx. 10-15% STIP and a LTIP.
