THE OPPORTUNITY

As we expand, our Technology team is growing rapidly, driving innovation in AI for Workers Compensation. We're transforming the industry with cutting-edge solutions that enhance claims management, improve outcomes, and streamline processes.

As a Data Engineer within our AI & Data Science team, you will play a key role in shaping the future of intelligent, data-driven solutions.
 

Working in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment, you’ll collaborate with data scientists, AI/ML engineers and technical stakeholders to support the design, development and optimisation of data pipelines and data assets across both structured and unstructured datasets.
 

You’ll be responsible for supporting data integration, transformation and quality, ensuring data is reliable, accessible and fit for use across reporting, analytics and AI initiatives.
 

A key focus of the role will be working with SQL-based environments, both on-premises and within Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, contributing to the ongoing evolution of our data platform.

This will be a full time, 12 month contract based in our Sydney office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week).
 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines to support structured and unstructured data across reporting, analytics and AI use cases.

  • Manage and optimise databases and data warehouses, supporting efficient storage, retrieval and performance.
  • Monitor and maintain data pipelines and assets, driving improvements in performance, scalability, cost efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions, while documenting processes and continuously improving data practices.

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong knowledge of data engineering tools, platforms and architecture, with experience across data ingestion, processing and storage (Azure/Fabric advantageous).
  • Experience working in collaborative development environments, including source control, Agile delivery and CI/CD practices.
  • Understanding of data services supporting analytics, machine learning and AI (nice to have, not essential).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts and solve problems in a team environment.
