Roles & Responsibilities

  • 5 years’ experience managing payroll in a fast-paced, complex business environment
  • Hands-on experience with Workday and Aurion payroll systems
  • In-depth understanding of payroll legislation, including awards, payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG and workers compensation, with the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge in practice
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, analysis and reconciliations

Requirements:

  • Support the development and delivery of payroll strategy, ensuring efficiency, scalability and strong business partnerships
  • Manage the end-to-end fortnightly payroll cycle, including data entry, validations, leave, deductions, adjustments, reconciliations, month-end tasks and payments
  • Prepare accurate and timely ad-hoc reports
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements, including cost-benefit analysis and training

As a Senior Payroll Officer at EML, you’ll play a pivotal role in making sure our people are paid accurately and on time, every time.

This isn’t just about processing pay runs, it’s about owning the payroll function end to end, providing trusted advice on legislation and policy, and working closely with leaders to deliver a smooth, compliant, and reliable service. You’ll also help drive improvements, from smarter systems to streamlined processes, ensuring we’re always moving forward.

This will be a full time, 6 month contract position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.
 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and delivery of payroll strategy, ensuring efficiency, scalability and strong business partnerships.
  • Manage the end-to-end fortnightly payroll cycle, including data entry, validations, leave, deductions, adjustments, reconciliations, month-end tasks and payments.
  • Prepare accurate and timely ad-hoc reports.
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements, including cost-benefit analysis and training.
  • Champion continuous improvement and stay across industry trends to ensure best practice.

ABOUT YOU

  • 5 years’ experience managing payroll in a fast paced, complex business environment.
  • Demonstrated hands on experience with Workday Aurion Payroll and would be highly regarded
  • In depth understanding of payroll legislation, including awards, payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG and workers compensation, with the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge in practice.
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite, with a particular focus on Excel for reporting, analysis and reconciliations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and provide outstanding customer service to stakeholders at all levels.
