Job description

About Tilt 🛸

Tilt’s mission is simple: Make Commerce Alive.

From static store website builders to impersonal marketplaces, today's ecosystem is aging fast. It was built for transactional experiences, not for the new generation of merchants who grow through attention, community and personality.

In the UK alone, millions of shoppers, from sneakerheads and Y2K girlies to collectors and parents, have signed up to Tilt. Our platform has helped sellers go from zero to £1M+ in earnings, and hundreds more earn above the UK median income.

And we are just getting started.

Your Mission 🫵

You will join as the third Product Designer for our lean, highly ambitious and equally talented team to help us build exponentially better user experiences. We are a fast-moving company and expect excellence.

In this role, you will have direct impact on both design culture and product strategy to materialise product ideas and bring them to life in close collaboration with our engineering and product teams. You will set the standard for how the future of shopping looks and create memorable experiences for our users.

What You’ll Do 👷

As a Lead Designer on our Buyers team, you'll create exceptional shopping experiences for millions of users while collaborating across engineering, product, marketing, and data. Beyond buyer journeys, you'll contribute to diverse projects spanning seller experiences and growth initiatives.

You'll play a key role in shaping Tilt's design culture; mentoring teammates, evolving our processes, and advancing our design systems. This is an opportunity to set the standard for craft and make meaningful impact at a growing company.

  • Design and own the end-to-end buyer experience across iOS, Android, and Web, using research and data to validate decisions and ensure high-quality execution.

  • Drive strategy and execution of core product areas including onboarding, discovery, purchase experience, and checkout.

  • Champion user needs through research and data analysis to identify problems and design high-impact solutions that push the Tilt experience forward.

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, marketing, and data teams to define roadmaps and ideate new features and improvements.

  • Advocate for design excellence by consistently applying UX principles and raising the bar for craft across the company.

  • Contribute to and evolve the Tilt Design System and brand identity to establish a cohesive visual and interaction language.

  • Lead design culture at Tilt by mentoring team members, establishing design processes and rituals, and setting standards for the whole team.

0–3 months

  • Build a deep understanding of our product, customers, and market by engaging directly with user research, data, and insights.

  • Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of your first key features, setting a high craft bar and influencing product decisions early.

  • Partner with product and design to uncover high-impact opportunities, experiments, and future bets for the product.

  • Assess current design processes, rituals, and tools; propose improvements that strengthen collaboration and overall design quality.

  • Collaborate with marketing and growth to shape engaging mechanics for our new shopping experience.

3+ months

  • Act as a key decision-maker and trusted point of reference in product strategy, influencing direction across teams.

  • Lead and elevate design processes across the organisation, promoting strong design thinking and high-quality execution.

  • Drive a high-craft, high-standards culture within product teams, ensuring consistency, polish, and clear UX principles across the product.

  • Own and evolve methodologies that enable teams to move quickly; refining how we explore, validate, and build product at Tilt.

  • Champion fast, evidence-driven decision-making and help embed a rigorous product culture across teams.

Who You Are 📋

  • A craft-obsessed designer with a proven track record of building products from 0 → 1.

  • Your portfolio showcases expertise in visual design, prototyping, interaction, motion, and systems thinking, with a deep understanding of platform-specific interaction patterns.

  • Passionate about shipping exceptional work and championing a high bar for execution amongst teams.

  • You move quickly through prototyping and iteration without sacrificing long-term strategic thinking.

  • A natural collaborator who thrives on feedback and mentorship, with experience scaling design within growing teams.

  • Bonus: Experience in e-commerce, social platforms, and/or multiple early-stage startups.

Why Tilt 💫

  • You’ll be joining a mission-driven team backed by world-class investors (TechCrunch)

  • You’ll own meaningful systems from day one, with real scope and autonomy

  • You’ll work alongside curious, kind, and wickedly smart teammates

  • You’ll help redefine how millions of people shop online
