SHC Federal is seeking a highly motivated Cloud / Systems Architect to support our client in the Defense Intelligence sector in Chantilly, VA. This position has the exciting opportunity to lead the redesign and migration of legacy systems to cloud-based environments, ensuring scalable and mission-critical solutions for long-term success. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: Requirements:
Active TS/SCI clearance
8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, software engineering, or systems engineering
Hands-on technical background (development or systems) with expert understanding of how systems are built, integrated, and scaled
Progressive experience in enterprise level architecture, technical leadership, and design-focused roles
Experience designing solutions in an AWS environment, including supporting or contributing to system modernization and cloud migrations
Ability to work across both software and infrastructure teams
Desired:
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.), microservices, API design/integration, event-driven architectures, and deployment strategies (e.g., blue/green)
Experience modernizing legacy systems using phased approaches (e.g., Strangler Fig pattern)
Knowledge of database architecture
Exposure to AI/ML concepts and integrating AI across systems
Responsibilities:

The base pay range for this position is $200,000 – $230,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
