Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Experience: 8–12 Years
Employment Type: Full-time (Permanent)
Location: Japan
Notice Period: Immediate Joiner / Short Notice Preferred

Language Requirement: Japanese proficiency required

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with 8-12 years of hands-on experience testing mechatronic and robotic systems. This role is an individual contributor position, focused on designing and executing tests, building automation rigs, debugging failures, and driving subsystem and system-level validation. You will collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure robust, reliable robotics solutions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute manual and automated validation of electronics, mechanical, and integrated robotic subsystems.
  • Design and implement automation test rigs and hardware-in-the-loop setups for subsystem/system testing.
  • Write, maintain, and execute automation scripts and test tooling (Python preferred, C++ as secondary).
  • Perform root cause analysis of failures across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries.
  • Contribute to test planning and provide feedback on system specifications.
  • Collaborate with QA leads and cross-functional engineers to integrate test coverage into development cycles.
  • Generate test reports, defect logs, and regression analyses to track system quality.
  • Support continuous improvement of QA practices, tools, and test infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications (Must-Have)

  • 8-12 years of QA/testing experience with mechatronic, robotic, or embedded hardware systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering fields.
  • Hands-on experience in manual validation of electronics and mechanical subsystems.
  • Proven experience building and executing automation rigs / HIL test environments.
  • Strong skills in Python test automation and working knowledge of C++.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git).
  • Strong debugging skills across hardware-firmware-software interactions.

Preferred Qualifications (Good To Have)

  • Experience with ROS, robotics simulations, and HWIL setups.
  • Understanding of embedded electronics and system reliability testing.
  • Familiarity with QA frameworks such as Pytest, Selenium/Playwright, JUnit, or TestNG.
  • Prior experience in QA for robotics, automation equipment, or hardware products.
  • ISTQB certification (Foundation or Advanced).
  • Exposure to additional CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI).
  • Japanese language proficiency (nice to have).
