We are recruiting an AV Design Engineer on behalf of an ambitious and growing AV business that genuinely cares about its people. This is a hybrid role, with time spent working from the Sheffield head office alongside Design, Engineering, and Commercial teams, as well as the flexibility to work remotely when appropriate.

The business is expanding steadily and investing in both its technology and its team. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale AV integration projects, supporting the design of systems that are practical, reliable, and ready to be delivered right first time.

The Role:

As an AV Design Engineer, your focus will be on translating customer requirements into clear, accurate, and practical AV system designs.

You will play a key role in ensuring solutions are specified correctly from the outset, supporting the sales and delivery teams with designs that are technically sound, commercially viable, and deliverable in real-world environments.

Working closely with Business Development, Engineering, Technical Support, and Procurement teams, you will help shape solutions from concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed AV system designs based on customer requirements and project specifications
• Produce technical documentation including schematics, system layouts, equipment lists, and supporting design information
• Create drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, or 3D design platforms such as SketchUp
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure solutions are practical and deliverable
• Provide technical input during tenders, proposals, and project planning stages
• Review and refine system designs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements
• Support engineering teams by ensuring design documentation is clear and ready for installation and commissioning
• Stay up to date with AV technologies, integration methods, and industry best practices

The Person:

• Experience working in AV design, AV engineering, or technical pre-sales within the professional AV industry
• Strong understanding of AV technologies including audio and video distribution, control systems, DSP, and display solutions
• Confident using AutoCAD and design tools to produce professional technical documentation
• Experience with 3D modelling tools such as SketchUp would be advantageous
• A methodical and detail-focused approach to documentation and system design
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
• A practical mindset with the ability to design solutions that work effectively in real-world environments
• Collaborative and proactive when working with cross-functional teams
