Job description

Audio Visual Commissioning Engineer

South of England | Permanent | Excellent Salary + Car Allowance + Benefits

Looking for your next move in AV Commissioning?

If you're an experienced AV Commissioning Engineer who enjoys the technical side of AV and wants to keep progressing, this is an opportunity to join a business where career development genuinely happens.

In fact, we're recruiting for this position because another member of the team has been internally promoted.

Rafferty Resourcing is working with a highly respected and growing Audio Visual business known for its excellent team environment, impressive staff retention and genuine commitment to work-life balance.

This is a company that invests in its people. You'll work alongside highly experienced AV professionals, have access to ongoing technical development and be given the opportunity to accelerate your career as the business continues to grow.

We're not looking for someone who simply wants another AV job. We're looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, takes pride in delivering systems properly and wants to become an important part of the team.

The Role

You'll take responsibility for the commissioning, configuration, testing and technical delivery of professional AV systems across a variety of client environments.

Working closely with Project Managers, Programmers, Engineers and clients, you'll be involved in projects from pre-build and testing through to final commissioning, acceptance and handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Commissioning, configuring and testing professional AV systems
  • Fault-finding and resolving technical issues across complex AV environments
  • Supervising and supporting system pre-build works
  • Carrying out pre-commissioning testing and configuration prior to acceptance testing
  • Preparing acceptance testing documentation for client and consultant sign-off
  • Setting up, testing and commissioning systems on-site
  • Supporting control system programming and troubleshooting
  • Producing and updating as-built documentation for DSPs, matrix systems and system configurations
  • Providing project information and equipment specifications to internal and third-party programmers
  • Supporting Project Managers with technical delivery and third-party coordination
  • Providing technical guidance to Installation, Sales and Project Management teams
  • Liaising professionally with clients throughout project delivery
  • Supporting system maintenance, modifications and technical issues following project completion

What We're Looking For

This opportunity is specifically aimed at someone with existing professional AV commissioning experience.

You'll need to be technically confident, comfortable fault-finding complex systems and capable of taking responsibility for commissioning AV solutions to a high standard.

You'll ideally have:

  • Professional experience working as an AV Commissioning Engineer or within a closely related commissioning role
  • Strong knowledge of professional Audio Visual systems
  • Experience commissioning, configuring, testing and fault-finding complex AV systems
  • A good understanding of DSP, audio, video and control environments
  • Previous control system programming exposure would be advantageous
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Programmers and Engineers
  • A professional and calm approach when working on-site
  • Full UK driving licence

Above all, we're looking for someone who enjoys AV technology, wants to continue developing technically and is looking for a business where they can build a long-term career.

Why Join?

There are plenty of AV businesses offering interesting projects. What makes this opportunity different is the environment you'll be joining.

You'll become part of a close-knit, experienced team with exceptionally high staff retention, where people are trusted, supported and given genuine opportunities to progress.

The fact that we're recruiting because of an internal promotion is a great example of the career opportunities available.

You'll benefit from:

  • Excellent work-life balance
  • Genuine and accelerated career progression
  • Ongoing technical training and development
  • A supportive and highly experienced AV team
  • Excellent staff retention and company culture
  • Interesting and technically challenging AV projects
  • Competitive salary
  • Car/travel allowance and additional benefits
  • Long-term career opportunities within a growing business

This is a permanent position based in the South of England, with travel to client sites as required. There will also be occasional European travel.

If you're already working within AV commissioning and feel you've reached the point where you want more technical development, more progression and a better work-life balance, we'd love to hear from you.
