Role Overview

As our LMS Systems Developer (Moodle), your focus isn’t flashy features or experimental builds. It’s stability. Structure. Seamless deployments.
You’ll support a respected Australian education provider delivering immersive online learning to RTOs, TAFEs, and schools. Behind every course launch and learner login is a Moodle environment that needs to be secure, optimized, and dependable — and that’s where you come in.
You won’t just resolve tickets. You’ll strengthen systems. You won’t just deploy updates. You’ll protect learning continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
Moodle Environment Management
Maintain Moodle on stable long-term support versions.
Test plugins for compatibility during upgrades.
Support staging-to-production deployments.
Assist in resolving plugin performance issues.
Contribute to theme updates and minor front-end improvements.
Maintain clean, documented code practices.
Systems & Integrations
Support LTI and API integrations.
Assist with new client LMS site setups.
Write basic SQL queries and reports.
Manage repositories via Git / Bitbucket.
Support cloud-based environments (AWS preferred).
Ticketing & SLA Support
Manage and respond to support tickets via Zoho Desk (or similar).
Provide clear technical updates and documentation.
Escalate complex issues appropriately.
Troubleshoot recurring issues and identify root causes.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in R&D initiatives.
Improve internal workflows and processes.
Document solutions to strengthen team knowledge.
Requirements
Required Qualifications (Must-Have)
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of Moodle development experience.
Strong PHP (OOP) capability.
HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript.
MySQL / relational database experience.
Git version control.
Experience working within structured ticketing/SLA environments.
Understanding of staging and production workflows.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Comfortable working 8:00am–5:00pm AEST.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
AWS exposure (EC2, RDS, S3).
CI/CD experience.
Laravel, WordPress, or Drupal exposure.
Experience in education or RTO environments.
Redis or Memcache configuration experience.
