Solution Architect - Fully Remote

This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced software solution architect to guide the design and implementation of enterprise-level software systems using cloud computing technologies. You will work closely with Product Managers, Program Managers, Engineers, business stakeholders, and 3rd-party vendors to turn business needs into architecture-level solutions. You will assess candidate technologies, make build/buy/reuse recommendations, and review detailed Engineering designs.

The Work Itself

• Become a subject-matter expert (SME) in the companies key business and technologies, and provide that expertise to project teams during the planning, design, and delivery of technology solutions.
  
• Partner with Product Managers during a feature’s discovery phase to fully grasp its business context, scope, and requirements.
  
• Lead the design of architecture-level solutions to meet requirements, working with relevant Engineering leads as needed to refine the approaches.
  
• Support the Engineering team as they work out detailed designs for approved architecture solutions, and provide feedback during the design review process.
  
• Review and discuss work-in-progress solution proposals from other Architecture team members in a collegial and cooperative manner.
  
• Participate in proof-of-concept (POC) implementations as needed to evaluate the suitability of new technologies, processes, or architectural patterns.
  
• Contribute to architectural guidelines and technology standards for the organization.
  
• Contribute to the development of RFPs and SOWs and participate in the vendor selection process as needed.
  

The Skills You Bring

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent field from an accredited college or university.
  
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in software development.
  
• Experience as a Lead Software Engineer designing solutions for non-trivial features and implemented by a team of developers.
  
• Good communication skills and experience explaining complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  
• Expert knowledge of the full software development process, from requirements discovery to production deployment.
  

Experience with the following technologies and practices:

• Business object modeling and domain-driven design.
  
• Microservices architecture and implementation patterns (containerization, serverless, etc.).
  
• Working with a Cloud platform such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or similar.
  
• Designing enterprise-class APIs (RESTful design, OpenAPI, API versioning).
  
• Integrating systems using synchronous APIs and/or asynchronous technologies such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, AWS Kinesis, or similar.
  
• Agile development, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  
• Information Security standard as applied to software system design.
