Job Title: Principal Product Architect


POSITION SUMMARY:

CareMetx is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Principal Product Architect to provide strategic technical leadership across our product portfolio. This role involves partnering with Product Owners to translate business objectives into executable technical strategies, developing migration roadmaps, and ensuring architectural coherence across multiple products. As a key technical leader embedded within Product Delivery, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Enterprise & Solutions Architecture, drive pragmatic decision-making, and enable the product organization to deliver value efficiently and effectively.


 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Strategic Portfolio Leadership:

  • Partner with Product Owners and Director of Product Owners to provide architectural guidance on technical product roadmap decisions
  • Develop and maintain technology adoption roadmaps and migration strategies across the product portfolio
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend approaches that align with business objectives and product strategy
  • Facilitate platform consolidation decisions and rationalize technical approaches across products

Solution Design and Guidance:

  • Collaborate with Solutions Architecture team to establish reference architectures and reusable patterns for portfolio-wide adoption
  • Advise Product Owners on platform choices, technical feasibility assessments, and build vs. buy decisions
  • Provide technical leadership for complex, cross-product initiatives that require architectural alignment
  • Design approaches that balance business velocity with long-term technical sustainability

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Act as the technical bridge between Product Owners, Engineering, and the Architecture organization
  • Translate complex architectural concepts into actionable guidance for product teams
  • Communicate technical strategies, trade-offs, and recommendations to leadership with clarity and precision
  • Foster collaborative relationships across product and architecture organizations

Technical Debt and Quality:

  • Establish frameworks for managing and prioritizing technical debt across the product portfolio
  • Work with engineering leadership to balance feature delivery with architectural improvements
  • Conduct portfolio-level technical assessments to identify risks, dependencies, and optimization opportunities
  • Ensure solutions meet quality, performance, scalability, and reliability requirements

Governance and Standards:

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to adapt enterprise standards for product-specific contexts
  • Provide architectural oversight and guidance to ensure consistency and quality across the portfolio
  • Establish decision-making frameworks for technology selection and platform adoption
  • Ensure all solutions meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements specific to healthcare

Mentorship and Enablement:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Product Owners and Engineering on architectural considerations
  • Build architectural capability within product teams through knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination
  • Foster a culture of pragmatic technical decision-making and continuous learning
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance, including being present, on time, and prepared for work as scheduled.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


 Qualifications


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture and product delivery, with 5+ years in leadership roles
  • Proven track record of leading technical strategy across multiple products or platforms in healthcare or similarly regulated industries

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

 Technical Expertise:

  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern application architecture patterns
  • Strong knowledge of API design, microservices, data architecture, and integration patterns
  • Experience with multiple technology stacks and ability to make objective platform recommendations
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery methodologies
  • Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR) and integration technologies

Leadership and Problem-Solving:

  • Demonstrated success in technical leadership across complex product portfolios
  • Strong ability to influence without authority and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proven track record of simplifying complex technical landscapes and creating pragmatic migration strategies
  • Experience balancing innovation with practical constraints of existing systems and organizational capabilities

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Exceptional communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
  • Ability to translate between product, engineering, and architecture perspectives
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations and navigating complex stakeholder relationships
  • Strong facilitation skills for technical decision-making and conflict resolution

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance standards (HIPAA, PHI, FDA where applicable)
  • Experience building secure, compliant architectures in regulated industries
  • Ability to assess and communicate technical risks to leadership
