Semi-Senior Accountant


We are actively recruiting for a tech-savvy Semi Senior Accountant to join a tech-forward Cornwall practice in a remote or hybrid working capacity. It’s an excellent opportunity for an AAT-qualified practitioner studying for their ACCA, and ready to take the next step in their career. Salary is up to £30,000 (DOE) with an excellent study support package. Remote (or hybrid) working is offered.


About the role and workplace:


Our client is a family-owned, cloud-based practice in Bodmin, Cornwall. They are laser-focused on adding value for their clients in ways that traditional accounting practices don’t. The firm’s client roster includes local and nationwide hospitality companies and restaurants.


As a Semi Senior in the practice, you will assist senior staff with statutory accounts, VAT, corporate tax matters, and tax returns. You will have autonomy to get on with the work but also the support of a teamwork mindset. The firm embraces technology and knows that accounting is about more than just the numbers.


What's needed for success in this role:


  • AAT-qualified and studying towards your ACCA
  • 2-3 of experience within the accountancy practice sector
  • Skills across accounts, and general accountancy practice services delivery
  • Familiarity with cloud accounting software will be an advantage
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage, Excel, Word, Excel, and ideally, IRIS
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Flexible attitude to work and the ability to work as part of a busy team to ensure the overall efficiency
  • Effective time management skills to ensure that all jobs are completed efficiently and within budget
  • Must be based in the United Kingdom*, ideally in Cornwall or Devon county
