Requirements:

  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of Affirm’s Australian business, including oversight of financial and budgetary activities and reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability; establish departmental objectives, policies, and procedures in Australia.
  • Be the voice of consumers and merchants in Australia, collaborating with cross-functional teams and reporting to the Board with input from Risk, Compliance, HR, Internal Audit, Finance, and Information Security.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations by establishing governance functions, oversee product governance and service provision, manage risk, and act as Responsible Manager for credit activities.

As the Director, Country Manager for Affirm in Australia, you will be a key leader on Affirm’s international team responsible for establishing our presence in this key market. You will be responsible for understanding the local market dynamics, play a consultative role in influencing our product roadmap for the market, developing relationships with key merchant partners and internal stakeholders, and collaborating across Affirm to create the necessary infrastructure for our operations in Australia. Your role will directly impact and inform top-priority, company-wide goals and will influence the long-term success of the organization. 

As Country Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all operational and commercial activities of our financial institution in Australia. You will ensure that the organization complies with all relevant laws and regulations and contribute to the strategic growth and development of the organization.

What you'll do

  • Be the voice of the consumer and merchants in Australia to Affirm and collaborate with cross-functional teams across Affirm to establish our operations in Australia
  • Meet with and report regularly to the Board, including gathering input from key functions within the business including Risk, Compliance, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Finance, Information Security.
  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Australian business
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability.
  • Oversee the establishment and implementation of departmental objectives, policies and procedures in Australia.
  • Oversee the business’s financial and budgetary activities in Australia, including (financial) reporting towards relevant authorities.
  • Manage the general activities relating to Affirm’s product governance and service provision in Australia
  • Identify risks and ensure appropriate strategies are in place to manage those risks.
  • Oversee the business’s overall compliance with applicable law and regulations by establishing appropriate governance functions and ensuring the business’s standards of conduct are appropriate. 
  • As a Responsible Manager you will have direct involvement in overseeing the business’s credit activities and significant day-to-day decisions and support credit authorisation of an Australian Credit Licensee

What we look for

  • 10+ years of management experience, management consulting or strategic operations with a digital/financial product.
  • Knowledge and experience within payments or financial services industry in the region of Australia and New Zealand, including familiarity with and ability to meet licensing requirements for payment institutions in Australia and New Zealand
  • As a Responsible Manager, you must:
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships both internally and with C-level decision makers at our merchants.
  • Experience leading and developing local leadership. 
  • Understands P&L and quantitative levers used by our merchants.
  • Seeks out new opportunities, drives projects, and navigates ambiguity with grace.
  • Resident of and legal authorization to work in Australia. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position
