Senior GEN Consultant at Vigil

SUMMARY:

As a Gen Consultant, you’ll work with our client to identify, design, and deliver solutions that modernise legacy systems, re-architect critical applications, and streamline processes. You’ll work independently and as part of the consulting team, as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle. Your Gen product suite expertise and strong consulting and project-management skills will help drive successful outcomes and foster lasting client relationships.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING:

You will join our engineering team and be a valued member working closely in a collaborative, autonomous, cross-functional team. You will help with the following:

• Partner with clients to analyse business challenges and define Gen-based solution roadmaps.
• Lead legacy regeneration and migration projects (e.g., upgrades, re-platforms, FAI), ensuring smooth hand-offs and minimal disruption.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot the full Gen product set in client environments.
• Design and scope prototypes or proofs of concept that validate proposed architectures.
• Manage the delivery of assigned projects—meeting agreed time, scope, and budget targets.
• Guide Agile ceremonies and iterative sprints, coaching client teams on best practices.
• Evaluate existing systems and processes, recommending improvements and documenting technical designs.
• Act as primary liaison between client stakeholders and internal delivery teams.
• Support proposals, RFPs/ITTs, and identify new business opportunities related to Gen services.
• Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences across the UK and Europe.
• Maintain an up-to-date skills matrix and CV; proactively seek training for both Gen products and adjacent technologies.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any related technical field.
• Gen Product Expertise: Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting the Gen suite.
• Legacy Modernisation: Proven track record migrating or regenerating legacy systems onto modern platforms.
• Consulting & Client Management: Able to work independently with senior stakeholders, managing expectations and delivering value.
• Project Delivery: Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
• Agile Practices: Comfortable leading or participating in Scrum/Kanban processes and iterative delivery.
• Solution Design: Experience designing prototypes and proof-of-concepts that translate business needs into technical architectures.
• Business Development: Experience contributing to proposals and spotting new consulting opportunities.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal

AWESOME BUT NOT REQUIRED:

• Hybrid Cloud Integration: Familiarity with deploying Gen solutions in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Additional Modernisation Techniques: Exposure to FAI or other specialised migration/modernisation approaches.
• Complementary Technologies: Working knowledge of Java, SQL, REST APIs, or other tools that enhance Gen implementations.
• Certifications: Formal credentials in Gen products or enterprise-architecture frameworks.
• Mentoring & Training: Experience upskilling junior consultants or client teams.
• Event Speaking: Previous experience presenting at conferences or running workshops.
• Process Automation: Skills in scripting (Python, Bash) or IaC to automate deployments and testing.
