GIS Specialist

1. Data Collection and Management
   

   • Identify and document the locations of mobile network towers.
     
   • Gather and validate existing network tower data to create and maintain a comprehensive database.
     
   • Mark municipal boundaries, city boundaries, and other administrative areas using GIS tools.
     
   • Identify Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAQMS) and weather monitoring station locations, integrating them into a geospatial database.
     

2. Geospatial Analysis and Visualization
   

   • Analyze spatial data to determine optimal locations for network towers based on coverage area and other factors.
     
   • Calculate the coverage area of each tower and provide actionable insights.
     
   • Develop heat maps and other visual representations to communicate geospatial data effectively.
     

3. Workflow Development and Documentation
   

   • Design workflows and standard operating procedures for geospatial data processing and analysis.
     
   • Document processes, including steps and tools used for geospatial data collection and visualization.
     

4. Data Integration and Output
   

   • Create shape files with detailed attributes to be used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
     
   • Ensure compatibility of geospatial data with various platforms and applications.
     
   • Establish and maintain a robust geospatial database, ensuring data accuracy and security.
     

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Education:
  

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, Geoinformatics, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field with a focus on GIS.
    

• Experience:
  

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a GIS Specialist or in a similar role.
    
  • Proven experience in geospatial data collection, database management, and spatial analysis.
    

• Skills and Competencies:
  

  • Strong understanding of GIS concepts, including spatial analysis, data visualization, and geodatabase management.
    
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret geospatial data and provide actionable insights.
    
  • Proficiency in documenting workflows and technical procedures.
    
  • Effective communication skills for presenting geospatial findings and collaborating with team members.
    
  • Enthusiasm for staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and continuously improving skills.

   • Tableau or Power BI (for creating heat maps and spatial visualizations)
     

3. Database Management:

4. Remote Sensing Tools (Optional):
   

   • ENVI or ERDAS Imagine
     

5. Programming Skills (Preferred):
   

   • Python (with GIS libraries such as GeoPandas, PySAL, or GDAL)
