Roles & Responsibilities

  • Fine and commercial art training in illustration (color theory, composition, art history, life drawing, character design, speed painting, sculpture, photography, industrial design, fashion, theater)
  • Experience in illustration and/or concept art with 2D skills using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate
  • Previous experience working in the gaming industry as a concept or production artist
  • Reel or portfolio demonstrating artistic skills (required)

Requirements:

  • Create 2D illustrations and concept art in line with the project's artistic and technical direction, covering characters, environments, game objects, vehicles, and gameplay screens
  • Self-plan and time estimate your work, meet strict deadlines, interpret briefs, and adapt your work based on client/lead critique
  • Communicate effectively with team members (Game Designers, Graphic Artists, Art Directors) and other stakeholders in a fast-paced iterative environment
  • Use traditional and digital methods to produce 2D designs (drawing/painting) and leverage software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, and Maya; apply color theory, composition, and graphic design principles; research topics and collect reference material

About the role:  

Amber’s Creative Core is looking for a passionate, experienced Concept Artist or Illustrator to join our project pitch team. This role calls for versatile art skills in a fast-paced iterative environment creating key visuals that fascinate, intrigue and inform both internal and external clients.  

The Quest:  
  • Create 2D illustrations and concept art in line with the project's artistic and technical direction.  
  • Work with subject matter including but not limited to; characters, environments, game objects, vehicles, gameplay screens, etc.  
  • Understand the gameplay constraints on the visual design. 
  • Understand and apply aesthetic and graphic design principles developed for the project 
  • Ability to self-plan and time estimate your work. 
  • Proficiently communicate with team members (Game Designers, Graphic Artists, Art Directors), and other stakeholders. 
  • Use traditional and technological approaches to create designs in 2D through drawing and painting. 
  • Be confident using creative a variety of software and art technologies e.g. Photoshop, Maya, Painter, etc. 
  • Efficiently interpret briefs. 
  • Respond positively to client feedback. 
  • Adapt and refine your work based on client/lead critique. 
  • Research topics and collect reference and ideas to use in your designs. 
  • Meet strict deadlines. 
The Skills:  
  • Fine and commercial art training in illustration including color theory, composition, art history, life drawing, character design, speed painting, sculpture, photography, industrial design, fashion, theater.. 
  • Experience in doing illustration and/or concept art  
  • 2D skills – Art tools like Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, Procreate, etc. 
  • Previous experience working in the gaming industry as a concept or production artist. 
  • 3D modeling, texturing, animation, architectural skills a plus. 
  • Motion Graphics and video edit skills a plus.
