As an Oncology Data Specialist Coordinator III, you will perform the functions of a Tumor Registry Coordinator II as well as coordinate Commission on Cancer Accreditation (COCA) activities, run standard studies for data analysis, provide recommendations on studies’ protocol feasibility and marketing, and assist with quality assurance reviews. The cancer registry collects valuable information, contributes to caring for and educating cancer patients and is the foundation for cancer research.
A caregiver in this position works remotely from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Lead Commission on Cancer (Coca) Accreditation activities including running studies for data analysis.
Provide recommendations on studies protocol feasibility and marketing.
Assist the Department Supervisor with Quality Assurance Reviews by providing data analysis to stakeholders and reviewing other team members data.
Suggest opportunities for improvement.
Direct the training of new hires. Orients, educates and trains appropriate personnel.
Perform accurate and complete case ascertainment.
Collect and interpret information on each reportable case.
Code, classify and indexe stage of disease and treatment information.
Maintain a maximum abstracting delay of 6 months from the initial diagnosiscontact.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Associates degree
College level Anatomy, Physiology and Medical Terminology
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR)Oncology Data Specialist Certification (ODSC) by the National Cancer Registrars Association
Five years of experience in case abstraction and successful completion of Coordinator, Tumor Registry II position (consistently maintains productivity and quality assurance targets, demonstrates ability to multitask abstracting duties and administrative duties)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelors degree
Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) code. If you do not hold this, you will need to complete an online exam through the state of Florida to obtain it
