There’s a moment you realize that you can’t continue like this. You want better days, better relationships, and more possibilities. When you’re in the depths of opioid use disorder (OUD), it takes strength and courage to act on that moment. At Bicycle Health, we believe that choosing to start recovery creates hope in the face of hardship. With us, your care begins as soon as you reach out. Most patients get an appointment on the same day or the day after. Our personalized care and medication plans offer professional support and suboxone to control withdrawal. On your best days and your worst days, we’re always here for you. About 95% of patients end problematic opioid use within just one week. And 88% of patients who have been in care with us for a year or more see positive outcomes including easier days, steady employment, and healthier relationships. No one does this alone. Our community of doctors, care providers, and support groups are available every day. With regular check-ins, we’ll work with you to update your care as you make progress. We know that with the right treatment, you can overcome OUD and build a life you love.

Job description

Of the 10 million Americans struggling with opioid misuse, only 1 in 10 receive treatment. This is an accessibility crisis, and we are on a mission to solve it by bringing life-saving care to the 89% currently left behind. Through a single app, Bicycle Health combines Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) with behavioral healthcare, drug screening, therapy, and peer support.

As our Controller, you will take full ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations, financial close, and compliance framework. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will manage our internal accounting team, direct external audit and tax partners, and build scalable financial systems to support our rapid multi-state expansion and payor relationships.

Location:  Remote

Target Pay: $160,000-$205,000 + Bonus & Equity - Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
What makes this role unique:

  • Mission-Driven Scale: Your work directly supports an organization delivering life-saving clinical care to tens of thousands of individuals across the country.

  • Complex Multi-Entity Architecture: This isn’t a run-of-the-mill SaaS or single-entity ledger. You will navigate sophisticated healthcare accounting, including Management Services Agreements (MSAs), intercompany fund flows, and ASC 606 revenue recognition across both commercial payors and self-pay populations.

  • Direct Line of Sight to the CFO: Partner closely with executive leadership to establish financial governance, prepare for institutional growth rounds/public readiness, and shape the company’s operating discipline.

  • A True Builder’s Mandate: We run a modern, fully virtual financial stack (NetSuite, Tropic, Bill.com, Expensify, Carta). You will have the runway to automate workflows, eliminate manual friction, and compress our close cycle.

What you'll do:

  • Accounting Operations & Close: Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes; deliver GAAP-compliant consolidated financials efficiently.

  • Multi-Entity & MSA Governance: Oversee intercompany accounting, allocations, and cash transfers across our clinical and management entities in strict accordance with MSAs.

  • Revenue Recognition: Refine and maintain robust ASC 606 revenue policies for commercial health plan contracts and cash-pay patients.

  • Controls, Audit & Tax: Drive the annual external audit, coordinate multi-state tax compliance (income, sales, franchise, excise), and design scalable internal controls.

  • Risk & Corporate Governance: Manage annual corporate insurance programs (general liability, medical malpractice, cyber, D&O) and oversee equity/stock administration via Carta.

  • Team Leadership: Mentor, manage, and scale our internal accounting and accounts payable team while directing specialized third-party consultants.

What we are looking for:

  • Credentials & Experience: Active CPA required; Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance with 7+ years of progressive experience, ideally combining early public accounting training with high-growth operating experience.

  • Leadership Track Record: 5+ years of direct experience building, mentoring, and holding accounting teams accountable to tight close SLAs.

  • Technical Depth: Mastery of US GAAP, multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, and ASC 606 revenue recognition. Prior exposure to healthcare, MSOs, or complex clinical payor models is strongly preferred.

  • Modern Systems Fluency: Hands-on experience operating within NetSuite, Bill.com, Tropic, Expensify, Carta, and Google Workspace.

  • Remote Operating Agility: Highly organized, self-directed builder comfortable designing processes from scratch and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced virtual environment.
